Abstract: An electronic apparatus performs a method of decoding video data, comprising: receiving, from bitstream, a first syntax element in a slice header of a slice that indicates whether luma mapping with chroma scaling (LMCS) is applied to a coding unit in the slice; receiving a second syntax element for the coding unit that indicates whether the coding unit has been coded using adaptive color-space transform (ACT); if the second syntax element has a non-zero value, decoding the coding unit by applying inverse ACT to convert luma and chroma residuals of the coding unit from a transformed color space to an original color space of the video data; and if the first syntax element has a non-zero value, decoding the coding unit by performing inverse luma mapping to the luma samples and inverse scaling to the chroma residuals of the coding unit after performing the inverse ACT.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus performs a method of coding video data. The method comprises: receiving, from the bitstream, syntax elements associated with a coding unit, wherein the syntax elements include a first coded block flag (CBF) for residual samples of a first chroma component, a second CBF for residual samples of a second chroma component, and a third syntax element indicating whether adaptive color transform (ACT) is applied to the coding unit; determining whether to perform the chroma residual scaling to the residual samples of the chroma components according to the first CBF, the second CBF, and the third syntax element; in accordance with a determination to perform the chroma residual scaling to the residual samples of the first and second chroma components, scaling the residual samples of the at least one of the first and second chroma components based on a corresponding scaling parameter.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video decoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that can determine multiple transform selection (MTS) selection information of a plurality of transform coefficient blocks in a coded video bitstream. The MTS selection information indicates at least one of (i) threshold information or (ii) a plurality of MTS candidate subsets for a transform coefficient block in the plurality of transform coefficient blocks. The processing circuitry can determine which MTS candidate subset in the plurality of MTS candidate subsets is selected for the transform coefficient block based on the MTS selection information and inversely transform the transform coefficient block based on an MTS candidate included in the determined MTS candidate subset.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a storage device and a processor. The storage device stores a plurality of images captured by a camera. The processor: accesses visual data associated with an image captured by the camera; determines a tile size parameter for partitioning the visual data into a plurality of tiles; partitions the visual data into the plurality of tiles based on the tile size parameter, wherein the plurality of tiles corresponds to a plurality of regions within the image; compresses the plurality of tiles into a plurality of compressed tiles, wherein each tile is compressed independently; generates a tile-based representation of the image, wherein the tile-based representation comprises an array of the plurality of compressed tiles; and stores the tile-based representation of the image on the storage device.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a harmonized design among multiple reference line intra prediction, transform partitioning, and transform kernels or processing video information. One example method is disclosed. The method includes retrieving a data block of a video frame, the data block having an adjacent reference line and one or more non-adjacent reference lines in the video frame; determining whether one of the one or more non-adjacent reference lines is to be used for intra prediction of the data block. When an adjacent reference line is used for the intra prediction of the data block, selecting a target transform kernel from a first set of transform kernels to transform the data block; and when a non-adjacent reference line is used for the intra prediction of the data block, selecting the target transform kernel from a second set of transform kernels to transform the data block.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry for video decoding. The processing circuitry determines a transform candidate for a block in a current picture from a group of transform sets based on one of a feature vector {right arrow over (F)} or a feature scalar S extracted from reconstructed samples in one or more neighboring blocks of the block. Each transform set of the group of transform sets can include one or more transform candidates for the block. The one or more neighboring blocks can be in the current picture or a reconstructed picture different from the current picture. The processing circuitry reconstructs samples of the block based on the determined transform candidate. The processing circuitry can select a sub-group of transform sets from the group of transform sets based on a prediction mode for the block indicated in coded information for the block and determine the transform candidate from the sub-group of transform sets based on the reconstructed samples.

Abstract: A video processing method includes performing a conversion between a video block of a video and a coded representation of the video. The coded representation conforms to a format rule. The format rule specifies that applicability of a transform skip mode to the video block is determined by a coding condition of the video block. The format rule also specifies that a syntax element indicative of applicability of the transform skip mode is omitted from the coded representation. The transform skip mode includes skipping applying a forward transform to at least some coefficients prior to encoding into the coded representation, or during decoding, skipping applying an inverse transform to at least some coefficients prior to decoding from the coded representation.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for lossless coding for visual media coding are described. An exemplary method for video processing includes determining, based on a current video block of a video satisfying a dimension constraint, that coding modes are enabled for representing the current video block in a bitstream representation, where the dimension constraint states that a same set of allowed dimensions for the current video block is disabled for the coding modes, and where, for an encoding operation, the coding modes represent the current video block in the bitstream representation without using a transform operation, or where, for a decoding operation, the coding modes are used to obtain the current video block without using an inverse transform operation; and performing a conversion between the current video block and the bitstream representation of the video based on one of the coding modes.
