Abstract: An alternator includes an exciter field device generating an exciter magnetic field in a first air gap, an exciter armature device configured to rotate with respect to the exciter magnetic field and impart a first voltage in a first set of coils at the first air gap, a main stator device including a second set of coils, and a rotor field device configured to be energized by the first current in the first set of coils and generate a main magnetic field that imparts a second voltage on the main stator device at a second air gap. The main stator device and the exciter field device lie in on a common plane normal to an axis of rotation, and the exciter armature device is inwardly spaced from the exciter field device, main stator device, and the rotor field device.

Abstract: An electrical machine has a housing (2), a stator (3) arranged in the housing (2) in a rotationally fixed manner, and with a rotor (4) mounted so that the rotor (4) can rotate in the housing (2). A degree of freedom is provided, in the radial direction, between the housing (2) and the stator (3) so as to permit material-related thermal expansion differences between the housing (2) and the stator (3) in the radial direction. Throughout the operating range of temperatures encountered during use, the stator (3) is held in the housing (2) and is aligned concentrically with the rotor (4) by the interlocking connection elements (5). The interlocking connection elements (5) are designed and arranged in such manner that the housing (2) can expand and contract, in a stress-free manner, relative to the stator (3). In addition the electrical machine is arranged in a vehicle transmission.

Abstract: An electric compressor comprises: a boost converter configured to boost a voltage output from a direct current power supply; an inverter configured to convert the power boosted by the boost converter to an alternating current power; and a motor configured to rotate the electric compressor using the AC power output from the inverter. In the electric compressor, the boost converter and the inverter are provided on the same circuit board, housed in the same inverter case, and cooled by a coolant flowing into the electric compressor. The electric compressor is thereby obtained in which the device size can be prevented from increasing even when the boost converter configured to boost a low voltage from the DC power supply is installed.

Abstract: An electric machine for an electrified vehicle is provided. The electric machine may include a stator, a ring plate, an encasement, and a fastener. The stator defines a cavity, a stator recess about a portion of the cavity, and a stator aperture. The stator may include windings disposed within and partially protruding out of the cavity. The ring plate may be sized for disposal within the stator recess, and may define a tab and a plate aperture for alignment with the stator aperture. The encasement may define a key sized for engagement with the tab to secure the encasement to the ring plate, and a closed coolant channel. The fastener may be sized for insertion within the apertures to secure the plate to the stator. The stator, ring plate, and encasement may be arranged with one another such that the partially protruding windings are disposed within the closed coolant channel.

Abstract: An electric machine comprise a first carrier having an array of electromagnetic elements and a second carrier having electromagnetic elements defining magnetic poles, the second carrier being arranged to move relative to the first carrier. An airgap is provided between the first carrier and the second carrier. The electromagnetic elements of the first carrier include posts, with slots between the posts, one or more electric conductors in each slot, the posts of the first carrier having a post height in mm. The first carrier and the second carrier together define a size of the electric machine. The magnetic poles having a pole pitch in mm. The size of the motor, pole pitch and post height are selected to fall within a region in a space defined by size, pole pitch and post height that provides a benefit in terms of force or torque per weight per excitation level.
