Abstract:
The present invention relates to an injector for an arc furnace. The injector comprises a head suitable to face into the furnace and a body suitable to support the head. The head and body are manufactured separately from each other, and are fastened by means of removable connection means in order to implement said injector.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a burner for oxidant gasification of pulverized fuels under high pressures of e.g. 80 bar (8 MPa) and temperatures of e.g. 1200 to 1900° C. in reactors with liquid slag removal for oxygen gasification, the individual pulverized fuel supply tubes in the burner are designed such that, while retaining the entry cross-sectional area of the tube, the cross-section makes a systematic transition to a curved rectangular duct matched to the annulus. This means that fuel feeding ends immediately adjacent to the oxidant duct, and the flow rate provided in the feeding element is maintained up to the outlet, thereby ensuring trouble-free flow of the pulverized fuel and reducing the amount of inert gas required for purging the feeding element in the non-operational state.
Abstract:
A burner assembly including a housing having an air inlet, a burner end having an opening, a longitudinal axis extending generally from the air inlet toward the burner end, a motor, an impeller mounted in the housing and being in fluid communication with the air inlet, operatively connected to the motor and adapted to direct air from the air inlet toward the burner end, a coal tube adapted to convey coal toward the burner end, a coal inlet adapted to convey coal to the coal tube, a first bluff body ring, a second bluff body ring and a third bluff body ring mounted at the burner end, a flame bridge disposed between the first bluff body ring and the second bluff body ring, and an igniter mounted in the burner end and being adapted to ignite the air and fuel mixture in the burner end to produce a main flame.
Abstract:
A burner has a body portion and a main outlet. Fuel and primary oxidant outlets are arranged upstream of the main outlet and are disposed substantially concentrically about the axis of the burner. A chamber inside the body portion provides a place for the mixing of the fuel and oxidant. A laval nozzle provides acceleration of the mixed fuel and oxidant. Particulate matter are injected into a secondary oxidant flow immediately adjacent and downstream of the accelerating nozzle. The burner can be used in an electric arc furnace for decarburization of metals as well as post combustion. The burner can be mounted in a water-cooled box and can be fitted with an oxygen port for extra oxygen for post combustion while the burner injects hot oxygen and carbon for slag forming.
Abstract:
The technical field of the invention is making a burner capable of using one or more fuels, optionally simultaneously, together with particular features for the gas feed ducts. Such a burner comprises at least four substantially concentric ducts for feeding fuel and primary combustion air, including a duct for axial air and a duct for rotary air disposed outside any fuel outlet opening, and a central stabilizer placed at the outlet of a central primary air delivery duct opening out through orifices of said stabilizer, which stabilizer projects radially relative to any opening of a tube placed inside said central primary air duct and inside which a fuel pipe opens out. According to the invention, said burner has at least one additional gas feed opening out into said stabilizer and disposed around said opening having any diameter lying between the tube within which the fuel pipe opens out and the outer tube defining the central primary air delivery duct.
Abstract:
An arrangement wherein a coherent jet is established proximate to a powder injection system and the coherent jet not only provides for gas delivery but also serves to improve the efficiency of the delivery of powder from the powder injection system.
Abstract:
A burner/injector for providing a localized impingement flame or multiple flames for scrap heating and melting through use of a fluid fuel and at least one oxygen rich oxidizing gas. The burner/injector includes a liquid-cooled combustor for generating an impinging flame directed toward a scrap pile and a structure for injecting a controllable amount of a solid carbonaceous fuel and a controllable flow of high velocity oxidizing gas into space that has been previously occupied by the impinging flame. The burner/injector may be equipped to inject a solid slag forming materials and/or slag deoxidizing materials, and/or to inject an additional oxidizing gas for burning a small portion of preheated scrap, post-combustion of CO and iron-carbon melt refining. The burner/injector may be arranged as a simple liquid-cooled combustor permanently mounted through the furnace wall or roof, and may be equipped with single or multiple channels for injection of solid material and high velocity oxidizing gas. Separate injecting lances for high velocity oxidizing gas and/or solid carbonaceous fuel may be mounted on the furnace. Both the lances and the combustors may be equipped with a nozzles for additional injection of the additional oxidizing gas.
Abstract:
An apparatus allowing the use of low-grade solid fuel powders (coal, lignite, peat) and products derived therefrom during cold starting periods and for backing up combustion chamber operation at low load. The pilot burner (1) has an auxiliary and pilot igniter which burns gas produced by gasifying low-grade fuel in a gasification unit (6) and a main igniter which burns the low-grade fuel powder in a storage silo (5). The combustion air is heated in an air heater (10) by the gas produced by gasifying low-grade fuel in gasification unit (6). In particular, turbulence is set up in the combustion air sent to the outlet of the pilot igniter. Application to combustion apparatus including steam generators of thermal power stations.
