Abstract: A pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly with a low contact frame for use with a pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle is described. The pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly has an outer nozzle tip portion adapted to mount in supported relation with the pulverized solid fuel pipe nozzle, and an inner nozzle tip portion adapted for mounting within the outer nozzle tip portion to have secure tiltable movement. The outer nozzle has supporting surfaces that support surfaces of the inner nozzle tip portion to minimize the tilting forces transmitted to the inner nozzle tip portion during normal furnace operation, enhancing the wear resistance of the pulverized solid fuel nozzle tip assembly. The supporting surfaces of the outer nozzle also eliminate stress cracking to the surfaces of the inner nozzle tip portion that can arise due to thermal growth.

Abstract: In a nozzle for feeding a combustible medium such as coal particles along with air into a furnace, the exit end of each splitter plate in the nozzle is reinforced by a stiffener having an external cross-sectional shape in the form of a continuous curve proceeding outward and forward from a first surface of the plate to a first location, inward from the first location to a second location beyond the level of an opposite second surface of the plate, and inward and rearward from the second location to the second surface. The stiffener can be hollow, and can also be provided with openings for the flow of cooling air from the interior to the exterior of the stiffener. The continuous curvature of the exterior of the stiffener avoids recirculating flow at locations adjacent the stiffener and thereby minimizes flame attachment and deposition of ash or fuel sediment onto the reinforced splitter plates.

Abstract: Provided are a burner such as a concentrate burner, a calcine burner, or a matte burner, or a burner using a mixture of these for feeding reaction gas and fine solids into a reaction shaft of a suspension smelting furnace, and a fine solids feeding apparatus for a burner such as a concentrate burner, a calcine burner, or a matte burner, or a burner using a mixture of these. The fine solids feeding apparatus comprises gas outlets in a fine solids discharge channel upstream of a downstream outlet end of the fine solids discharge channel. The gas outlets comprise spiral path guiding members configured to facilitate gas to flow from the gas outlets in a spiral flow path around a center axis A of the fine solids discharge channel.

Abstract: A biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner is provided, capable of burning biomass fuel as auxiliary fuel in large quantities and burning only pulverized coal when the biomass fuel is not sufficiently available. The biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner includes a biomass fuel jet nozzle that extends axially along the biomass-mixed, pulverized coal-fired burner, a fuel jet nozzle that is open midway in the biomass fuel jet nozzle, a secondary air nozzle that surrounds the fuel jet nozzle, and a tertiary air nozzle that surrounds the secondary air nozzle. A pulverized coal component in a fuel stream as a mixture of the pulverized coal fuel stream and the biomass fuel stream is distributed with a higher concentration on an outer circumferential wall side and a biomass fuel component in the fuel stream is distributed inside of the pulverized coal fuel component.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pulverized coal burner for a steam generator. The pulverized coal burner has a fuel duct, through which pulverized coal is conveyed with the aid of a carrier gas. The pulverized coal emerges together with the carrier gas at a fuel duct outlet. The pulverized coal burner furthermore has at least one core duct and at least one secondary duct. Air or oxygen flows through the core duct and the secondary duct, emerging at the core duct outlet and at the secondary duct outlet. The core duct outlet, the secondary duct outlet and the fuel duct outlet together form a burner outlet. The pulverized coal burner has at least one plasma ignition torch embodied integrally with the pulverized coal burner. The outlet of the at least one plasma ignition torch is arranged in the plane of the burner outlet or offset downstream in relation to the direction of flow of the pulverized coal. The plasma flame produced by the plasma ignition torch is thus located outside the fuel duct.
