    摘要: The present invention provides a cryogenic storage container having a pressure vessel surrounded by a vacuum vessel for maintaining a vacuum between the outer wall of the vacuum vessel and the pressure vessel. A pair of intermediate and sub-intermediate heat shields are disposed between the outer wall of the vacuum vessel and the pressure vessel for intercepting the heat that would otherwise be transferred from the vacuum vessel to the pressure vessel. The heat intercepted by the intermediate heat shield is absorbed by liquid nitrogen contained within a liquid nitrogen container. The heat intercepted by the sub-intermediate heat shield is preferably absorbed by liquid neon in a liquid neon storage tank. The liquid nitrogen and neon absorb heat by undergoing a phase change, from liquid to vapor. In order to prevent failure of the liquid nitrogen container, the nitrogen is vented to the atmosphere over a period of time. The vaporized neon, on the other hand, flows into an adsorbant canister containing activated charcoal to adsorb gaseous neon for regeneration back to liquid neon at a future time.

    摘要: A method of utilizing a divided pressure vessel in a processing system employing a carbon dioxide based solvent includes transferring a first carbon dioxide based treating solution from a first liquid chamber in a divided pressure vessel having a plurality of liquid chambers to a processing vessel, returning the first treating solution from the processing vessel to the divided pressure vessel, transferring a second carbon dioxide based treating solution having a composition different from the first treating solution from a second liquid chamber in the divided pressure vessel to a processing vessel, and returning the second treating solution from the processing vessel to the divided pressure vessel. A divided pressure vessel may allow multiple solvent baths each having a different chemical composition to be stored and/or processed in a single pressure vessel while maintaining the different chemical compositions of the multiple solvent baths. Thus, such divided pressure vessels may provide the improved operational efficiency of a carbon dioxide based system having multiple solvent baths while decreasing the capital costs that may be associated with such systems.

    摘要: An evacuator housing ( 14) of a gas tank evacuator (10) receives a gas tank (12). A valve seal of a movable seal head (34) and a puncture seal (66) of the evacuator housing are clamped onto the gas tank at opposite ends by a hollow threaded shaft (32) to form a sealed test space (58) exteriorly of the gas tank at a valve (22) and a sealed evacuation space (68) exteriorly of the gas tank at a puncture spot (24). A pressure gauge (60) coupled to the test space rides on the seal head and a valve actuator in the form of a rod (40), passes through the hollow threaded shaft into the sealed test space. A puncturing mechanism (18) punctures the gas tank at the puncture spot. The sealed evacuation space is positioned vertically below the puncture spot and communicates with a carbon filter positioned vertically above the evacuation space so as to form a U-shaped trap (90).

    摘要: A gas tank evacuator (10) comprises an evacuator housing (12) into which a neck (80) of a gas tank (82) can be screwed and an elongated valve-removal rod (14) for slidably passing through the evacuator housing and engaging and unscrewing a stem-actuated valve (88) of the gas tank. An elongated valve actuator pin (18) slidably passes through the valve-removal rod to extend from lower and upper ends of the valve-removal rod for independently actuating the stem-actuated valve. The valve-removal rod is moved longitudinally by a valve-removal-rod lever (16) which is pivotally attached to the evacuator housing and valve-removal rod by pivot links (60). The valve-removal-rod lever is pivoted on the evacuator housing to drive a valve-engaging device at a lower end of the valve-removal rod into engagement with the stem-actuated valve of the gas tank for its removal from the gas tank.
