摘要: A method of applying a corrosion-resistant coating to a fastener that includes preheating an area of the fastener to be coated to elevate a temperature of the area and spraying the preheated area of the fastener with a molten or semi-molten metal. In one embodiment, a corrosion-resistant coating applicator includes a support structure, a rotatable slotted fastener conveyer supported by the support structure, a feeder configured to feed fasteners to the rotatable slotted fastener conveyer, a fastener aligner configured to make head portions of the fasteners aligned with each other, a heater configured to heat head portions of the fasteners as the fasteners are being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer, and a sprayer configured to apply a corrosion-resistant coating to the heated head portions of the fasteners being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer. The present disclosure also provides corrosion-resistant coated fasteners made using the coating methods and/or coating apparatus.

The activatable material is milled into a particulate size of from about 500 microns to about 10000 microns and the device is heated to a temperature of at least about 30° C. but below an activation temperature of the activatable material and contacted with the particulate of the activatable material, adhering the activatable material to the device.

摘要: An integral nail/disk structure that eliminates the need of having any exposed nails associated with a shingled roof having a color matching body member integrally formed with a roofing nail. Another embodiment including a fastener such as a nail or screw having an enlarged head and an associated gasket member for fastening sheet metal to a roof structure. The gasket member has a sealant on both of its top and bottom surfaces so as to adhere both to the underside of the enlarged head portion of the nail or screw, and to the sheet metal to create a waterproof seal. Still another embodiment includes an enlarged cap member associated with a gasket member attached to its underside portion wherein the cap/gasket member can be attached over a fastener hole in a roof, or over a faulty roofing nail or screw in lieu of caulking techniques usually used to cure leaks where the faulty fastener attaches sheet metal to a roofing structure.

摘要: A method for repairing damaged asphalt shingles includes inserting a tube under the damaged shingle such the terminal end of the tube lies in the vicinity of the damaged area of the shingle, pushing a liquid emulsion through the tube and under the damaged shingle in and around the damaged area, applying a sealant to the upper face of the damaged shingle to fill and seal the damaged area, applying color granules to the sealant to match the granules associated with the damaged shingle, and allowing the sealant and liquid emulsion to seal the damaged area. The method may also include forming a hole in the center of the damaged area of the shingle and applying a sealant through the tube into the hole in sufficient quantity to allow the sealant to spread underneath the damaged shingle and around the damaged area of the shingle, filling the hole with a liquid emulsion, and applying colored granules to the liquid emulsion.

摘要: A method for making a plated spline nail includes plating an elongated wire with a corrosion resistant material, passing the wire through a forming machine having rollers configured with protrusions formed thereon and extending outwardly therefrom to form grooves in the wire. cutting the wire to a desired length and forming a head, and a point on the wire to form the nail. The nail may have ring shanks formed therein after the head and point are formed. A lubricant may be applied to the nail and/or the forming machine prior to forming the ring shanks and/or prior to passing the wire through the forming machine to form the grooves in the wire. A nail formed by pre-plating the wire, and a nail formed by the method are also disclosed.

摘要: A multi-material joint includes first and second body members, a staple, a wire ladder, and an adhesive. The first body member includes a first layer of fiber reinforced material which has first upper and lower surfaces. The second body member includes a metal. The staple includes first and second prongs joined by a crown. The first and second prongs are inserted through the first layer such that the crown is positioned adjacent to the first upper surface. The wire ladder is positioned adjacent to the first lower surface and includes first and second rails coupled together by a plurality of rungs. The first and second prongs hook over the respective first and second rungs. The adhesive is positioned between the first and second body members, and covers at least a portion of the crown. Other multi-material joints are also provided, as are methods of making multi-material joints.

摘要: A fastener assembly includes a row of fasteners having a head, a tip, and a portion of a shank coated with a polymer composition. The polymer composition includes a polymer material such as polyurethane and metal particles. The polymer composition is used to provide improved corrosion and ultraviolet radiation resistance when used with naturally corrosive or pressure preservative treated wood. The fastener assembly is coated with the polymer composition by vacuum coating a dispersion of the polymer composition in a solvent such as water and removing the solvent.

摘要: The present invention includes various embodiments directed to apparatus and methods surrounding a fastener device. In particular embodiments, the fastener device is a quick charging and discharging device that includes a solenoid, a fastener striker, a flash capacitor, and a control circuit. Other novel features of the fastener device exist. In particular embodiments, the present invention also includes apparatus and methods related to deforming staples for securing conduit and the like, and staple insulation and insulated staples that may be discharged by the fastener device. The insulation may be provided in an ordinary staple strip for use in the fastener device. Each insulation form may include deformation voids to assist the adaptation of the insulation about a target object that is being secured by the insulated staple.
