Abstract:
A two or four stroke internal combustion engine has a ported plate with a series of intake and exhaust ports connected respectively to an air intake and an exhaust system. A shaft is rotatable relative to the ported plate. the shaft carries a crank shaft with a crank axis oblique to the shaft axis. An array of one or more combustion chambers rotates about the shaft axis. Each combustion chamber includes at least one port which is brought into and out of operative communication with the series of intake and exhaust ports as the combustion chamber moves over the face of the ported plate. A piston reciprocates in each combustion chamber under the control of a wobbling member journalled onto the crank shaft. For each combustion chamber port an annular seal is located within an annular groove about the port and is biased toward the ported plate by combustion fluid pressure.
Abstract:
An engine/pump having a crank shaft with a shaft axis and a crank axis oblique to the shaft axis which intersect with each other. Piston/cylinder assemblies rotate about the shaft axis and have a reciprocal axis between its top dead center and bottom dead center. The reciprocal axis midway between TDC and BDC being normal to a line projected from the intersection of the shaft axis and the crank axis. A cylinder head holds the cylinders in an array, The head includes at least one port per cylinder, and a port relative to which the cylinder head moves sealably to allow timed to the reciprocal movement of each piston in its cylinder and the rotational position, the opening and closing of each cylinder. Each cylinder is indexed at a predetermined rate to the relative rotation of the crankshaft through gearing.
Abstract:
A sealed-type compressor used with HFC refrigerant. The sealed-type compressor houses a motor and compression machinery in a sealed case. The compression machinery includes at least a pair of sliding members wherein one sliding member having aluminum as its main body and having its surface alumite treated and the other sliding member having a metal material. The compressor includes an at least quadrivalent ester oil for the refrigerating machine oil which lubricates the sliding members.
Abstract:
A lightweight mud pump piston assembly for reciprocating inside of a cylinder. The piston has decreased weight because light weight materials are used to form the majority of the hub which is the heaviest part of the piston. The piston maintains its compressive strength because the critical stress portions of the hub are made with high strength material having higher tensile strength and density than the light weight material.
Abstract:
A reciprocating pump is provided with a flexible resilient cylinder which is mounted under tension between two end caps. The end caps are adjustably interconnected by means of a plurality of staybolts whereby the longitudinal tension on the cylinder may be adjusted. A piston comprised of a spherical segment is mounted for reciprocation within the cylinder with the spherical surface of the piston disposed in sliding contact with the cylinder.
Abstract:
A compressor assembly is disclosed including a compressor mechanism mounted within a hermetically sealed housing. The compressor mechanism includes a crankcase having a suction inlet opening providing communication into a suction cavity within the crankcase. A suction line adaptor is provided for attaching to a suction line of a refrigeration system to introduce suction gas into the suction inlet opening. The suction line adaptor includes a fitting mounted to the sidewall of the housing. The fitting defines a bore communicating through the housing wall. A radially outwardly extending annular groove is provided in the sidewall of the bore. A section of tubing having a washer-shaped flange at one end thereof extends between the fitting and the suction inlet opening. The tube section end opposite the flange is sealingly received at a variable depth within the suction inlet opening using an O-ring seal. The other end of the tube section is received within the bore with the flange received within the groove. The tube section is selectively positionable within the bore to compensate for misalignment of the suction inlet opening and the fitting bore.
Abstract:
A piston for a hydraulic piston machine in which a piston body receives a ball in a space defined at one end of thereof. A bearing dish supports the ball in the space with an O-ring engaging the recess to seal the bottom surface of the bearing dish. Preferably the bearing dish is formed with a steel support layer, a bronze layer cast onto the steel support layer, and a plastic layer supporting the ball.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a piston for high pressure hydraulic machines. Said piston comprises a cylindrical body having at the periphery thereof a resiliently deformable cylindrical flange which, in use, forms a tight seal with the cylinder, the flange being integral with the piston body and forming, by means of its inner surface, a recess in the end face of the piston which is subjected to high pressure.
Abstract:
An axial piston machine has a cylinder barrel mounted on a shaft and rotatable with respect to a portion of the casing. Between the cylinder block and the casing portion is a disc. The side of the disc adjacent the casing portion is concave and abutting casing portion is correspondingly convex. The disc is restrained against rotation and forms part of the valving means for the cylinder barrel. In one embodiment the casing and shaft are in two articulated sections. The shaft sections lie in a common plane and are pivotable with respect to each other about a point and the casing sections are pivotable about an axis normal to that plane and offset with respect to the shaft pivot point. In another embodiment the casing and shaft are each a single unit.
Abstract:
A conveyor roller and support assembly for conveying and guiding a belt or the like along a predetermined path of travel. Means are provided by which a roller can be conveniently relocated or removed from the system which includes a pluraltty of fingers extending from the body of the roller terminating in an inwardly turn lip capable of being seated within any one of a number of complementary grooves formed in the roller support member.
