The thickness decreases along a transverse direction towards the third edge and towards the fourth edge. The leading-edge protector element for protecting a leading-edge of a wind turbine blade may alternatively only include a rubber layer and also be provided on a coiled-up roll.

The invention relates to a grinding tool for grinding a leading edge of a wind turbine blade. It comprises two parallel shafts of which at least one is rotationally driven and a frame for holding the two shafts in a fixed mutual relationship. An annular abrasive belt is arranged around a tension device mounted to the frame and guides of which there is one on each of the two shafts. The abrasive belt runs in a plane perpendicular to the shafts and has a longer length than an imaginary curve formed by outer surfaces of the tension device and of the guides. The grinding tool further comprises two abrasive belt retainers movably mounted to the frame. They are shaped and arranged to move between a retaining position in which they retain the abrasive belt along at least parts of the abrasive belt which is in contact with the guides, and a release position in which they are out of contact with the abrasive belt.

The blade includes an internal structure which may be pre-fabricated with connections to the shell skin prior to being transported to the site of its wind turbine. Methods of manufacturing rotor blade components for a wind turbine and rotor blade components produced in accordance with such methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method generally includes providing a mold of the rotor blade component; coating at least a portion of an interior surface of the mold with an elastomeric material; inserting a foam material within the mold; and, removing the rotor blade component from the mold, wherein the elastomeric material forms a cover skin around at least a portion of the rotor blade component. In an alternative embodiment, the method includes providing at least one support member defining a profile for the rotor blade component on a mold surface; coating at least a portion of the support member with an elastomeric material; and, allowing the elastomeric material to cure on the mold surface so as to form the rotor blade component.
