    摘要: A centrifugal conical-spray atomization device. A head portion of a needle valve is provided with a throttling guidance cone. A seat surface of the needle valve mates with seat surface of a spin chamber to open and close a spray hole in a pulsatory manner. A plurality of tangential holes are provided between a pressure chamber and a spin chamber. After being spun tangentially by the spin chamber, fuel is sprayed from a spray opening with a tangential force, forming a hollow umbrella-like fuel film without a compact fuel spray core. The umbrella-like fuel film has a controllable penetration distance and spins at a high speed in a combustion chamber. The centrifugal conical-spray atomization device not only exhibits a wide adjustable range of fuel flow, but is able to automatically open and close the spray hole, while carbon deposition would not easily form to block the spray hole.

    摘要: A valve assembly in an internal combustion engine fuel system includes a valve member movable within a valve body to contact a valve seat and block fluid communication between first and second passages. The valve seat and valve member each include a multi-layered coating having a harder metal nitride base layer and a softer metal nitride outer layer. The base layer is relatively incompliant to impacts between the valve member and the valve seat, and the outer layer is relatively compliant to the impacts and thereby deformable. Related methodology is disclosed.

    摘要: A programmable diesel fuel injector that increases frequency response and control precision over desired fuel flow rates throughout each injection event. All valve frequency and motional requirements are met by a compensated direct drive, which is enabled by the durable capability of a rare earth alloy to lengthen in a magnetic field. A continuously variable electrical input waveform is predetermined to result in the desired fuel injection rate shape. A magnetostrictive transducer converts voltage and current into continuously variable force and displacement of a master piston acting upon fuel within a closed chamber. A slave piston responds to the fuel pressure changes within the closed chamber and acts upon the spool of a spool valve to eject fuel.
