摘要: A water directing and distribution system (WDDS) that functions in combination with a natural or man-made water source. The WDDS includes a main pipe with an intake and a termination point. The main pipe is placed into or adjacent to the water source, at a depth below the water source's surface. Water from the water source enters the pipe at the intake and flows through the pipe by force of gravity. The water is maintained within the pipe and directed through the pipe at a lower level than the water source's origination point. Water from the pipe can be accessed via taps placed along the pipe. The water can also be directed to a water storage structure(s) and can be purified for human or animal consumption.

摘要: A potable water producing system for disposition at a salt water body and methods of producing potable water are provided. The system includes a wave energy conversion system (AWECS) and a portable filtration system. The AWECS forms a floating articulated barge having an onboard desalination system including reverse osmosis membranes. The filtration system is a sand filter residing on a damping plate submerged in the salt water body and filters the adjacent salt water for providing filtered salt water to the onboard desalination system. Wave action on the articulated barge provides energy to pump and pressurize the filtered salt water from the sand filter to the reverse osmosis membranes to produce potable water. The wave action on the articulated barge effects shaking of the reverse osmosis membranes, thereby rendering them self-cleaning. The potable water can be used for various applications, e.g., bottling, replenishing aquifers, ground and/or aquifer remediation, irrigation, etc.

A distillation apparatus 100 for generating distilled water by use of solar heat 72 includes a heat transmissive window 10 that transmits the solar heat 72; a housing 20 that secures the heat transmissive window 10; and a heat absorber 25 that is located in the housing 20 and absorbs the solar heat 74 transmitted through the heat transmissive window 10. The housing 20 includes a first chamber 21 in which the heat absorber 25 is located; and a second chamber 22 connected to the first chamber 21 via a water vapor permeable membrane 40 that allows permeation of water vapor 64 generated in the first chamber 21. An intake opening 50 through which a liquid is introduced is provided below the first chamber 21. A water level adjustment mechanism 30 that adjusts a water level L of the liquid 63 covering the heat absorber 25 is provided in the first chamber 21.

摘要: To provide a cleaning apparatus suitable for removing clogging substances trapped in a surface layer of a sand filtration layer. A cleaning apparatus equipped with drive wheels serving as a driving device configured to move across a surface of a sand filtration layer. A pump and a jet nozzle are provided as an agitation device configured to agitate a surface layer portion of the sand filtration layer only at a desired depth, and which blows the clogging substances upward into the seawater in a turbid water intake pit together with a filtration sand. A perforated pipe for suctioning turbid water, a pump, an ejector, and a discharge pipe for dilute turbid water are provided as a suction and discharge device configured to suction turbid water blown upward into seawater in the water intake pit by the agitation device, and discharge it to outside of the turbid water intake pit. Prevents clogging by performing a timely cleaning of the sand filtration layer, thereby making it possible to maintain a high-speed seawater infiltration rate for seawater. Impact on the surrounding environment is reduced, because the apparatus suctions turbid water containing clogging substances which is blown upward into the turbid water intake pit, and discharges it to outside of the system.

摘要: A screen intake apparatus has a concrete platform resting on a water source floor. A screen intake anchors on the platform and forms a half cylinder thereon. A barrier at one end of the platform in divides the flow of water. The screen intake has a half-cylindrical body and half-cylindrical screens. Transition walls in the screen intake divide the body's hollow and the screens' interiors, and at least one flow modifier communicates the interior with the hollow. These flow modifiers also form a half cylinder with the platform. A manifold in the screens receives a supply of air to clear debris. Forming a half-cylinder, the screen intake on the platform can have a much lower profile for the water source than the normal cylindrical screens, which require half of its diameter in clearance above and below.
