摘要: A process for purifying nitrobenzene-contaminated wastewater stream WW1 includes stripping WW1 with stripping gas SG1 in a stripping column to obtain wastewater stream WW2 containing reduced concentration of nitrobenzene relative to WW1 (cNB,WW2), and purifying WW2 in a wastewater treatment plant, wherein a target value (cNB,WW2,TARGET) is specified for the nitrobenzene concentration in WW2. A set of linear mathematical relationships is stored in a database for a combination of boundary conditions of nitrobenzene concentration in WW1, temperature of WW1, and temperature of SG1. This set defines a range of concentrations of nitrobenzene in WW2 and includes a mathematical relationship corresponding to cNB,WW2,TARGET, a mathematical relationship for a value of cNB,WW2 corresponding to 98% of cNB,WW2,TARGET, and a linear mathematical relationship for a value of cNB,WW2 corresponding to 102% of cNB,WW2,TARGET. The concentration of nitrobenzene is controlled in WW2 (cNB,WW2) by adjusting the flow rate of SG1.

摘要: A water treatment system is provided for removing contaminants from feed water. The system receives feed water at a stripper tower, which removes VOCs from the feed water and directs the VOCs to a heating stage to be eliminated. Hot gases are directed from the heating stage to an evaporation stage. The VOC-free water from the stripper tower is also directed to the evaporation stage. The hot gases are brought into contact with the VOC-free water and evaporates the water. The exhaust gases in the evaporation stage are vented. A slurry of precipitated solids and water are removed from the evaporation stage to be disposed of or directed to a decanter stage to separate the liquid portion of the slurry from the solids portion. The liquid portion can be directed back to the evaporation stage. The exhaust gases in the evaporation stage can also be recirculated to the stripper tower.

摘要: Methods and systems for reducing an average particle size of blackwater solids is disclosed. A vessel is configured to receive a blackwater stream through a one-way inlet. The one-way inlet is configured to allow the blackwater stream into the vessel and prevent backflow. The blackwater stream contains blackwater solids and water. A device in a bottom portion of the vessel is configured to receive the blackwater and comminute the blackwater solids. A recirculating pump is configured to recirculate the blackwater stream under pressure through the device until the average particle size of the blackwater solids is reduced below a size threshold, resulting in a sized blackwater stream.

摘要: A hybrid system and a method for hybrid desalination and crystallization of seawater is provided. The hybrid system includes a reverse osmosis unit configured to separate the seawater from dissolved solids, generate a first quantity of purified water, and generate a second quantity of wastewater. The hybrid system also includes a pressure exchanger configured to lower a pressure of the second quantity of wastewater to atmospheric pressure. The hybrid system further includes a laser induced shock wave crystallizer configured to trigger nucleation of the dissolved salts in the second quantity of wastewater, expel a third quantity of wastewater having a second concentration of dissolved salts, and expel a fourth quantity of salt crystals. The hybrid system also includes a collection vat for receiving the salt crystals. The hybrid system further includes a high pressure pump configured to recycle the third quantity of wastewater back to the reverse osmosis unit.

摘要: A liquid concentrator system includes a concentrator section having a gas inlet, a gas outlet, and a mixing corridor disposed between the gas inlet and the gas outlet. A liquid inlet is disposed in the mixing corridor between the gas inlet and a narrowed portion. A demister is disposed downstream of the concentrator section. The demister includes a liquid collector to remove liquid from gas flowing through the demister, and a reservoir that collects the removed liquid. A re-circulating circuit is disposed between reservoir and the mixing corridor to transport liquid within the reservoir to the mixing corridor, and a secondary re-circulating circuit includes a settling tank to separate saturated liquid and suspended solids. A custom brine mixing device is operatively coupled to the settling tank.

摘要: A desalination system employs vacuum to evaporate heated water through a separator material. The evaporated water is then passed through a heat exchanger wherein the heat is exchanged with an inflow of water to the system to heat the incoming water and greatly increase the overall system efficiency. The incoming water heated in the heat exchanger may then be passed to a heater to further heat the water before being provided to an evaporator. A vacuum is drawn across a separator material in the evaporator to produce evaporated water vapor that is purified. This water vapor is then provided to the heat exchanger, wherein the water vapor is condensed and the incoming water is heated. An ozone disinfecting system may produce ozone that is mixed with the condensed water to produce a purified and disinfected water that is suitable for consumption.

摘要: A system and method to generate steam from a feed water stream does so in a liquid pool zone of a vessel as the stream comes into contact with a heating medium that is less volatile than the feed water stream. To keep the pool hot, the heating medium can be recirculated through a heater of a pump-around loop or a heater can be placed in the liquid pool. As the feed water stream is vaporized or partially vaporized, any solids or unvaporized water present in the feed water stream come out of the stream and move into the heating medium. These solids and the unvaporized water may be further removed from the heating medium in the pool or in the pump-around loop. The heat exchange surface does not contact the feed water to generate steam.

摘要: A system and method to partially vaporize a process or feed water stream does so in a liquid pool zone of a vessel as the stream comes into contact with a heating medium that is less volatile than the process stream. To keep the pool hot, the heating medium can be recirculated through a heater of a pump-around loop or a heater can be placed in the liquid pool. As the process stream is partially vaporized, any solids present in the process stream together with the unvaporized process or feed water stream move into the heating medium. These solids and unvaporized liquids may be further removed from the heating medium in the pool or in the pump-around loop. The vaporized process stream can be further condensed. Any heat recovered can be used to pre-heat the process stream or in the pump-around loop's heater in case of mechanical vapor recovery.
