Abstract: A filter apparatus includes a vessel, a filter media positioned in the vessel, a feed inlet positioned in the vessel above the filter media, and a knockout pot coupled to the vessel and arranged to collect a gas discharged from the vessel. The apparatus also includes a draft tube positioned in the vessel and filled with the filter media and an eductor including a fluid inlet, a fluid suction port, and a fluid outlet directed into the draft tube, a first fluid supply coupled to the fluid inlet to deliver a flow of a first fluid, and a conduit arranged to connect the knockout pot to the fluid suction port. The eductor operates to draw a portion of the gas into the eductor in response to the flow of the first fluid, the first fluid and the gas forming a backwash mixture that is discharged into the draft tube via the fluid outlet to induce a roll of the filter media during a backwash process.

Abstract: A particulate filtering device with a multi-layer water distribution and collection structure and a method for using the same are provided. The device includes a tank where a filtering space and a back flushing expansion space are formed. An upper water distribution pipe is arranged above the back flushing expansion space and is in communication with an ozone gas-water mixing pipe. Ozone enters the back flushing expansion space through the upper water distribution pipe and mix with water for reaction. Exhaust gas is discharged from the top of the tank. Powdered activated carbon may enter the tank through the upper water distribution pipe, and is intercepted at a space above the filtering space to form an activated carbon layer, to absorb organics dissolved in the water and catalytically decompose ozone. At least three water distribution and collection pipes are arranged on a layer basis in the filtering space.

Abstract: A water purification housing capable of purifying water and a rainwater purification system using the water purification housing are provided. The water purification housing filters treated water by filling filter media in a housing body and then passing the treated water through the filter media and removes residue caught in the filter media as a result of the use of the filter media by collecting the residue in a sediment discharge container positioned at a bottom portion of the housing body. The rainwater purification system includes an element that connects and installs several water purification housings and an additional filtration element including fiber filter and UV lamp which can filter materials that cannot be filtered only by the filter media at the end of the rainwater purification system.

Abstract: A filtration system using lightweight fibrous media (LFM) that are pre-compressed either 1) manually; or 2) in-situ using hydraulic flow; and where the LFM are forced to separate and relax for cleaning either: 1) manually, 2) in-situ in their filter housing, or 3) in an auto-clean system using separate devices in order to enact a particularly aggressive cleaning process. A plurality of lightweight fibrous media balls are pre-compressed and used to form a single mass that can filter water as the media are compressed by pre-compression before installation, or by water flow pushing on a pre-compression plate during filtration thereby forming a single mass providing multitudes of tortuous paths through which water can flow and the media can capture small particulate matter.
