摘要: A water directing and distribution system (WDDS) that functions in combination with a natural or man-made water source. The WDDS includes a main pipe with an intake and a termination point. The main pipe is placed into or adjacent to the water source, at a depth below the water source's surface. Water from the water source enters the pipe at the intake and flows through the pipe by force of gravity. The water is maintained within the pipe and directed through the pipe at a lower level than the water source's origination point. Water from the pipe can be accessed via taps placed along the pipe. The water can also be directed to a water storage structure(s) and can be purified for human or animal consumption.

摘要: A system for the generation of energy from the flow of water in a body of water is provided, the system comprising a support assembly extending across at least a portion of the body of water; a generator assembly mounted in the support assembly, the generator assembly comprising a first rotor assembly and a second rotor assembly, each rotor assembly comprising a vertical hub rotatable about a vertical axis and a plurality of vertical blades extending radially from the hub, the first and second rotor assemblies being arranged such that the volume swept by the blades of the first rotor assembly overlaps the volume swept by the blades of the second rotor assembly. The system may be used to generate energy, for example electricity. In addition, the system may be used to control the level of water on the upstream side of the installation, for example in the cases of flooding.

摘要: An environmental protective electrical power generating system is formed by a penstock connected at its opposite ends to a large sewer for conveying waste water from feeder pipelines to a sanitary treatment station. Sewer waste water is propelled through the sewer line by pumping equipment which simultaneously pulverizes most large objects carried by the waste water. The waste water is diverted, through a control gate, into the penstock where it flows through and operates one or more water-operated turbines. The turbines are operatively connected to electrical power generators for producing electrical power and dispersing the power through an electrical power transmission system. Depending upon the size of the sewer pipes, the volume of liquid flowing there-through, and the turbine and generator equipment, electrical power is generated without affecting the environment or ecology and without the use of fossil fuels.

摘要: A screened water or fluid diversion having a screen that is disposed in a generally horizontal manner (i.e., more horizontal than vertical, and substantially parallel to the direction of flow over the screen). Various representative embodiments are disclosed. Downstream flow control preferably maintains a head profile or grade line above the level of the screen and a uniform flow transition chamber (UFTC) or like structure is preferably coupled to the screen to facilitate more even and distributed flow through the screen (the diverted flow). In an embodiment that provides safe passage of fish, the grade line is provided sufficiently above the screen to provide safe fish passage. Various screen configurations, downstream flow control, UFTC configurations and other design considerations are disclosed.

摘要: A siphon jet is attached to a dry hydrant which is in communication with a body of water to increase the flow of fluid to the dry hydrant and assist in overcoming the effects of atmospheric pressure and gravity in drawing the water. A pressurized fluid source can add fluid to the siphon assembly and this forces water from the body up the hydrant pipe. Also, the fluid from the pressurized fluid source can be added forward of a valve to fill the hydrant pipe which thus minimizes the duration of priming operations.
