    摘要: Transporter and fish lock including an upper inlet and an upper outlet adapted to be in flow communication with an upper volume of water, and a lower outlet and a lower inlet adapted to be in flow communication with a lower volume of water. The upper inlet and the lower outlet communicate via a downstream passage having a first effective through-flow area, and the lower inlet and the upper outlet communicate via an upstream passage having a second effective through-flow area. The downstream passage includes a first helical rotor having a thread-direction that by a flow directed downstream causes the first rotor to rotate around its axis. The upstream passage includes a second helical rotor, wherein the rotors are mutually connected such that the first rotor drives the second rotor in rotation around its axis, and the second rotor has a thread-direction that upon rotation generates a flow directed upstream.

    摘要: A fish screen is presented having a porous surface made of two or more corrugations (e.g., elongated convex shapes) having an at least partially porous surface. The incorporation of a porous area on the corrugations allows increasing the total porous surface area compared to an underlying diversion area. The porous area is a magnification of an underlying diversion area, which reduces the fluid pressure (e.g., impingement forces) acting on the porous area of the screen. The valley between each pair of corrugations is solid, not porous. The solid valley(s) provide two important functions; they provide multiple small solid surface flow channels over the screen surface. These solid channels protect small or weak swimming aquatic organisms from impingement on the screen. That is, once organisms reach the solid channel, they may move along the solid channel free of impingement until they reach the edge of the screen.

    摘要: A structure for diverting fish away from water intakes comprises a porous dike having a bottom portion, a central portion, and a top portion, the top portion preferably being submerged a short distance below the surface, and the central portion having flow passages. In a preferred embodiment, the top and bottom portions comprise solid blocks and the flow passages in the central portion are lined with zebra mussel resistant sleeves to minimize clogging. Preferably the sleeve can be readily replaced as desired.

    摘要: A screened water or fluid diversion having a screen that is disposed in a generally horizontal manner (i.e., more horizontal than vertical, and substantially parallel to the direction of flow over the screen). Various representative embodiments are disclosed. Downstream flow control preferably maintains a head profile or grade line above the level of the screen and a uniform flow transition chamber (UFTC) or like structure is preferably coupled to the screen to facilitate more even and distributed flow through the screen (the diverted flow). In an embodiment that provides safe passage of fish, the grade line is provided sufficiently above the screen to provide safe fish passage. Various screen configurations, downstream flow control, UFTC configurations and other design considerations are disclosed.
