摘要: The present invention is a system for harvesting algae in continuous fermentation. There is a harvester including a main moving belt, a plurality of rollers, and a motor for driving the main moving belt. There is a reactor tank and a vacuum extractor for applying a vacuum over a width of the main moving belt to extract biomass and to dry the main moving belt. The main moving belt has one end in the reactor tanks and another end extended into the vacuum extractor. The algae contained in the reactor tank is collected for further processing, including oil extraction. With algae harvested in the large-scale manner of the present invention, a more efficient oil extraction method can be used because the concentration, temperature, and pressure can be more easily controlled.

摘要: A system and method for vertically-oriented, modular, automated, emissions-controlled composting. In an embodiment, the system and method involve construction of a vertically-oriented set of composting modules comprising a receiving and offloading level, one or more composting bay levels, a feedstock staging level, a biofilter level, a vertical conveyor for uploading feedstock to the feedstock staging level, a freight and personnel elevator, and a leachate tank. This composting system and method reduces the land area required for composting, increases the capture of emissions from composting, and reduces the labor-intensive and heavy-equipment-intensive nature of current methods.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for producing microalgae on a support (14) that is movably mounted essentially in an aqueous medium contained in a tank (12), said method comprising a succession of phases in which the microalgae developing on the support (14) are exposed to sunlight and phases in the shade, the light intensity received in the shade being less than 50% of the average light intensity received during the sunlight exposure phases. The total length of the shade phases is more than 50% longer than the total length of the sunlight exposure phases.

摘要: The method is for treating a liquid or a slurry of a liquid and solids, such as sludge, soil or fiber webs, with an ultrasonic energy. Movable endless members (214, 230) are provided that are permeable to the liquid portion of a slurry (204). An ultrasonic transducer (236) is disposed adjacent to the member (214) and the ultrasonic transducer (234) is disposed adjacent to the member (230). The slurry is fed in between the members (214, 230). The transducers (234, 236) generate pressure pulses through the members (230, 214) to form imploding bubbles (227) in the slurry. The bubbles (227) have a diameter (d5) that is greater than a distance (d3) between the transducer (234) and the member (230) and a distance (d4) between the transducer (236) and the member (214) to prevent the bubbles (227) from being captured between the transducers (234, 236) and the members (230, 214). In this way, the imploding bubbles can generate intense pressure, temperature and flow speed pulses in the slurry which can create sonochemical or sonophysical changes of the substances in the slurry without harming the ultrasonic transducer surfaces.

摘要: An apparatus (10) for the pressurized recirculation of organic material comprising a reactor vessel (12) capable of being pressurized and in which both anaerobic digestion and aerobic composting of organic material may occur, the reactor vessel (12) having both an inlet (14) and an outlet (16) for organic material, together with a conveyor means (18, 20, 22, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34 and 36) to convey organic material to the inlet (14) and from the outlet (16), whereby organic material may be transferred between the outlet (16) and the inlet (14) to achieve recirculation and rearrangement thereof while maintaining a pressurized state. A method for the pressurized recirculation of organic material is also described.
