Abstract: A method for biotreating persistent organic waste water containing a higher fatty acid and a thickening polysaccharide without adding chemicals includes subjecting waste water to an oil-water separating process to separate it into aerobically treatable oil-containing waste water and anaerobically treatable polysaccharide-containing waste water. The anaerobically treatable polysaccharide-containing waste water is subjected to a reducing process in an anaerobic treatment to convert the polysaccharide in the waste water into a monosaccharide and to obtain monosaccharide water capable of aerobic treatment. The oil-containing waste water and the monosaccharide containing water are subjected to an aerobic bacteria treatment process to yield pretreatment water capable of aeration treatment. The pretreatment water is subjected to an aeration treatment process while controlling BOD density and is subjected to a solid-liquid separation by flocculating with activated sludge.

Abstract: An electroactive bio-carrier module and a sewage treatment device using same are provided, which relate to the field of bioelectrochemistry and sewage treatment. The electroactive bio-carrier module is composed of an anode module and a cathode module made of a conductive material. The anode module is formed by connecting carbon fiber brushes in series and is of a vertically ring type structure; the cathode module is formed by connecting stainless steel meshes in series; the stainless steel meshes are in a folded horizontal stacked design; the anode and cathode modules are connected through an external lead wire to form a circuit. Surfaces of the anode and cathode modules can both enrich microorganisms, biofilms are formed on the surfaces. The electrode module is arranged in an up-flow type sewage treatment device and is used as an electroactive bio-carrier, to form a hybrid sewage treatment device with a built-in electroactive bio-carrier.

Abstract: The present invention is a compact and portable system designed to optimize lightweight biodigesters. The system includes a small sewage receiving tank, at least one small anaerobic digesting tank, and at least one gray water receiving tank, all interconnected for efficient operation. Sewage introduced into the small sewage receiving tank undergoes hydrolysis digestion, where solids settle at the bottom and excess liquids with suspended solids overflow into the small anaerobic digesting tank. This second tank further processes the liquids through acidogenesis, acetogenesis, and methanogenesis digestion stages. The final overflow liquids are directed to the gray water receiving tank for safe disposal. The system also incorporates heating elements, pH controlling apparatus, water filters, and gas release mechanisms, ensuring effective and controlled digestion processes.

Abstract: The invention provides treatments of organic waste. The invention provides a method for treating organic waste (and in particular, animal waste such as waste from a cow) and uses of a composition that is capable of generating a reactive species in methods of reducing biological degradation of organic waste, in the treatment of organic waste. The invention also provides organic waste treated by the methods of the invention and uses of this treated organic waste. The invention also provides a method for improving the production of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and medium-chain carboxylic acids (MCCAs) during anaerobic digestion (AD) of organic waste.

Abstract: A method for treating wastewater comprising subjecting a sulfate containing wastewater to Fe(III) iron dosing in an anaerobic bioreactor containing one or more of an iron reducing bacteria and one or more of a sulfate reducing bacteria, and one or more of a fermentative bacteria, and adjusting a dosage of the Fe(III) iron in the anaerobic bioreactor to achieve a Fe/Sulfate molar ratio that is equal to or greater than 0.50, and removing an effluent from the anaerobic bioreactor that is a treated wastewater. A wastewater treatment system is provided having a wastewater reservoir, a ferric iron solution reservoir, an anaerobic bioreactor, and an effluent reservoir.
