摘要： A system and method for vertically-oriented, modular, automated, emissions-controlled composting. In a preferred embodiment, the system and method involve construction of a vertically-oriented set of composting modules comprising a receiving and offloading level, one or more composting bay levels, a feedstock staging level, a biofilter level, a vertical conveyor for uploading feedstock to the feedstock staging level, a freight and personnel elevator, and a leachate tank. This composting system and method reduces the land area required for composting, increases the capture of emissions from composting, and reduces the labor-intensive and heavy-equipment-intensive nature of current methods.

摘要： A method for improved anaerobic digestion is presented. The method includes mixing a volume of waste material with water to form a feedstock mixture. The volume of waste material includes an initial amount of biomass and the feedstock mixture includes methanogenic bacteria either naturally present in the waste material or introduced artificially. The method also includes introducing one or more promoter substances to the feedstock mixture. The one or more promoter substances are capable of modifying the methanogenic bacteria. Modifying includes stimulating novel enzyme production in the methanogenic bacteria.

An apparatus and method for moisture removal from media includes a hydrophilic evaporative layer and a wicking layer, the hydrophilic evaporative layer being non-porous or nano-porous and allowing selective passage of vapor water molecules while preventing passage of suspended or dissolved solids, ions, salt, or pollutants, the wicking layer absorbing and spreading bulk moisture across a surface area. An apparatus and method for collecting liquid or solid wastes includes liquid and solid waste capture containers capable of volume reduction of captured waste and generating a liquid or gas effluent with fewer impurities than the captured waste.
