摘要: A system and method are provided for removal of undesirable substances from a body of liquid. The system can include an aeration structure having a continuously inclined surface configured to provide an interaction of air bubbles against substantially an entire length of the continuously inclined surface while the air bubbles are moving toward a top of the body of liquid. The continuously inclined surface can be substantially submerged in the body of liquid. A bio-film of diverse bacteria colonies is disposed on the continuously inclined surface, and a high surface area-to-volume structure is located in proximity to the aeration structure, upon which a bio-film of bacteria colonies can be formed. An aeration system is coupled to an air supply system which releases the air bubbles toward a bottom of the continuously inclined surface, such that the air bubbles move along the continuously inclined surface as they rise so as to (i) create a variety of aerobic-anaerobic conditions at the bio-film and (ii) engage the air bubbles in a continuous mixing of a micro climate for the bio-film in response to an orientation of the continuously inclined surface and (iii) provide airlift circulation of water from bottom to top of the aeration structure.

摘要: The integrated Orbal oxidation ditch, pertaining to water treatment technical field, comprises several ellipse oxidation ditches whose central island position is arranged with two or more round areas. Wherein, two round areas are tangential to or share the wall with the inner wall of the neighbouring oxidation ditch. The process water of various areas is connected with each other. Taking full advantage of the central island position of the traditional Orbal oxidation ditch, present practical and new invention introduces deposition area or deposition area and anaerobic area as well as inner/outer re-circulation zone, making the overall equipment layout of the oxidation ditch be more harmonious and reasonable, space use rate be high, area occupied be less and civil work expenses be lower. In particular, more than two deposition areas are arranged, increasing the flexibility of equipment use, meeting the variation requirements for water flow and water quality, strengthening technical suitability, integrating aesthetics and practicality as well as being convenient for use.

摘要: The present invention relates to a novel apparatus for enhancing the nitrification of wastewater, and a method of its use. The present apparatus comprises the addition of a plurality of submerged, fixed support means to an activated sludge system. These support means act as supports for autotrophic nitrification bacteria and are disposed in the activated sludge system so that the wastewater is substantially free of carbonaceous waste by the time it reaches the support media. A circulation system is used to bring the wastewater into contact with the support media so that nitrification can occur.

摘要: A complete mix activated sludge basin is operated as a Sequence Continuous Reactor by cyclically aerating the mixed liquor to form an aerobic cycle at selected high dissolved oxygen levels, during which nitrification takes place, and cyclically mixing the liquor without aerating to form anoxic cycles at selected low dissolved oxygen levels, during which denitrification takes place. Field adjustments can be made by the operator in the dissolved oxygen levels and in the duration of the aerobic and anoxic cycles, whereby ammonia removal, nitrification, and denitrification can continue to be done efficiently during both summer and winter temperature conditions, during conditions varying from warm to cold inlet wastewater temperatures, during extreme variations in food supply, and during pronounced variations in biomass concentration and activity.

摘要: A process and any of several pump/circulators provide selective rapid mixing of influent wastewater with the mixed liquor in the channel of an oxidation ditch and thereby provide maximized use of the entire volume of the channel. The pump/circulator is disposed at the beginning of the anoxic zone and preferably receives the influent wastewater. The oxidation ditch is preferably a barrier oxidation ditch or at least a baffle oxidation ditch in order to prevent backmixing.

摘要: An intrachannel clarifier for an oxidation ditch includes an enclosure positioned in the flow path of the oxidation ditch. This enclosure defines a perimeter wall which surrounds an internal volume made up of an upper zone, a middle zone and a lower zone. The cross-sectional area of the internal volume increases progressively from the lower zone to the upper zone. A water inlet port introduces waste water from the flow path into the lower zone, a submerged pipe in the upper zone removes clarified water from the upper zone, and sludge is actively removed from the middle zone via a sludge removal manifold disposed in the middle zone to reduce the residence time of sludge in the middle zone while maintaining a filter blanket of sludge in the middle zone.

摘要: Apparatus for treating waste water by the solids contact aerobic biological treatment process comprises a clarifier and a reaction basin in liquid communication with one another. In one embodiment, the reaction basin has an aerator which also circulates liquid through the clarifier by way of pipes arranged to collect liquid from the surface of the reaction basin and deliver it to a location adjacent a back wall of the clarifier. The clarifier has a bottom wall which slopes towards the reaction basin. Sludge particles in the liquid settle out in the clarifier and liquid discharged from the pipes flushes the settled biological sludge back into the aeration section of the reaction basin. In another embodiment the clarifier and reaction basin together form an oxidation ditch defining a closed loop. An aeration device continuously circulates liquid around the loop and through the clarifier.

摘要: A jet aerator header assembly is provided for the deep oxygen contact duct of a partial, total, or non-barriered oxidation ditch having an endless channel. The header assembly may be vertically installed in the bottom of the contact duct or at an angle in the intake portion thereof as a mid-duct header assembly; it can additionally be installed in a horizontal position at the inlet of the contact duct as an inlet header assembly. Each header assembly comprises a liquid header, an air header, a plurality of jet aerators which are flow connected to both headers, stiffener plates which rigidly attach the headers to each other and to the jet aerators, and pipes connecting the headers to respective liquid and air supply lines. The mid-duct header assembly is slideably mounted within an access duct which is accessible from the surface. The mid-duct header assembly can be operated to provide: (1) a base level of dissolved oxygen in the mixed liquor being discharged from the contact duct, and (2) a minimum circulation velocity within the endless channel of the oxidation ditch. The inlet header assembly can then be selectively operated to provide the additional amount of dissolved oxygen in the discharge mixed liquor that is required for aerobic treatment of the wastewater entering the endless channel at that time and season of the year. Air and liquid can be separately and selectively controlled for both mid-duct and inlet headers. Such operation provides separate control of mixed-liquor circulation velocity and of mixed-liquor aeration.

摘要: A side skimmer provided in a channel containing flowing liquid includes a skimmer mechanism and a skimmer drain. The skimmer mechanism includes a fixed portion secured in a hinge-like manner to one side of the channel and aligned with an obstruction located partially across the channel width, and a movable wing-like portion extending above and below the liquid surface. This mechanism selectively deflects the flow into the drain, and is movable between a closed position, which allows free flow between the mechanism in the channel side and the obstruction, and an open position between the fixed portion and the obstruction, which directs flow to the skimmer drain. The skimmer drain is vertically movable between a closed position above the liquid surface, and an open position just below the surface whereby floating matter is removed.
