摘要: A method and system for controlling dissolved oxygen levels in a secondary treatment system of a wastewater treatment facility that can employ a membrane bioreactor in which oxygen introduction into mixed liquor is controlled to prevent bulking and minimize generation of extra cellular polymeric substances. The control is exercised by insuring that dissolved oxygen levels within the mixed liquor do not fall below a minimum system level at which microorganism stress would occur. This is done by setting a minimum dissolved oxygen level control point equal to a sum of the minimum system level and an adjustment factor determined on the basis of oxygen uptake rate and time delays inherent in sensing oxygen levels and changes thereof within the mixed liquor. The minimum system dissolved oxygen level can be continually calculated on the basis of an inferred food to mass ratio that would vary with sensed mixed liquor suspended solids.

摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for mechanically treating a liquid composition contained in a pool, including: —a frame which supports a motor (2) out of the liquid composition, —a drive shaft (6) which is rotatably driven by the motor, —a centrifugal surface aerator (4) which is rotatably driven by the drive shaft in a first rotation direction, —a bottom mixer (8), which is rotatably driven by the drive shaft, in which the motor (2) can be driven in a second rotation direction, counter to the first rotation direction. The apparatus includes a device for activation/deactivation of the aerator, which device is capable of deactivating the aerator (4) in the second rotation direction of the drive shaft (6), so that the aerator is not to rotatably driven by the drive shaft (6), the aerator being inoperative on the liquid composition.

摘要: An orbital wastewater treatment system generally including a tank assembly and at least one impeller in the tank assembly for moving mixed liquor under process about the tank assembly is provided with an wastewater inflow sensor, an impeller power meter, and a control unit for periodically and incrementally varying impeller speed and weir height in order to reduce energy consumption. Operating such a wastewater treatment system comprises flowing mixed liquor or wastewater into a treatment pool in the tank assembly, rotating the impeller within the pool to move the mixed liquor or wastewater, and adjusting, in concert, a rate of rotation of the impeller and a level or depth of the pool to reduce a rate of energy usage per unit inflow volume while maintaining at least one process parameter such as dissolved oxygen content substantially constant at a given level in the pool.

摘要: An activated sludge wastewater treatment method is provided. The disclosed method includes: receiving a stream of wastewater into a mixed liquor in an uncovered activated sludge basin; introducing high purity oxygen to the mixed liquor in the activated sludge basin to produce euoxic conditions (i.e. a dissolved oxygen level in the range of between about 5 mg to 15 mg) in the activated sludge basin; passing a portion of the mixed liquor in the activated sludge basin through a clarifier to separate activated sludge and produce an effluent stream and an activated sludge stream; and recycling a portion of the activated sludge stream to the activated sludge basin to produce a mixed liquor having a solids loading of between about 3000 mg and about 10000 mg of suspended solids per liter of mixed liquor and a solids retention time of between about 7 days and 40 days.
