A methodology is described for the synthesis of polyolefin containing block-copolymers using a catalytic postpolymerization modification strategy. Common polyolefin grades may be converted into macroinitiators using a cross-metathesis reaction. The functionalized polyolefins may then be used to initiate living: coordinative ring opening polymerization of cyclic ester monomer, anionic ring opening polymerization of epoxide monomer, and radical polymerization of vinylic monomer, to yield the corresponding block copolymers.

A transparent ultraviolet curable adhesive is a solventless composition, based on a total weight of the composition, being composed of 35-65 wt % of a polyurethane (meth)acrylate resin, 30-60 wt % of a (meth)acrylate monomer, 0.1-5 wt % of an acrylate group-containing bisphenol fluorene derivative, 0.3-8 wt % of a photopolymerization initiator and 0.002-0.01 wt % of a vinyl silane coupling agent; and, the adhesive if cured has a refractive index of 1.52-1.56 very close to 1.52 for a glass thereof and has a visible light transmittance of 93-99 VLT (%) so suitable to be adhered to displays, transparent conductive film and touch panels.

The disclosure relates generally to a polymeric material for use in accommodating intraocular lenses for implantation in a lens chamber of a subject's eye. The present disclosure is directed to a polymeric material which comprises a fluorosilicone polymer and a silica component. The presently disclosed polymeric material is both optically clear and has a sufficiently low Young's modulus such that it can effectively respond to the eye's natural accommodative forces and thus can be used in accommodating intraocular lenses. When used in the fabrication of an intraocular lenses, the polymeric material disclosed herein protect the physical characteristics of the lens as the added hydrophobicity of the fluorosilicone polymer allows it to effectively resist diffusion of fluid from the eye and the adhesion of biologica materials.

Polythiols have between two and about ten thiol moieties. Polyepoxides have between two and about ten epoxy moieties. One or more amine catalysts of the formula NR1R2R3, wherein each of R1, R2, and R3 is independently linear or branched C1-20 alkyl or two or more of R1, R2, and R3 combine to form cycloalkyl. The resin has a compressive strength of at least 14 ksi at 2% offset at 70° F. and at least 8 ksi at 2% offset at 190° F.
