摘要: Described is a transparent polymer-based composite and a method for preparing a transparent polymer-based composite. The transparent polymer-based composite includes an activated polycarbonate and one or more nanoparticles grafted to the activated polycarbonate. The activated carbonate is formed via a transcarbonation reaction of a mixture of a carbonic acid species having terminal ester groups and a bisphenol-A with sodium hydroxide and ortho-dichlorobenzene. The transparent polymer-based composite may be used to replace the glass front-sheet of solar panels for photovoltaic applications.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to articles formed from polycarbonate prepared according to a melt polymerization method wherein. An article prepared by a process comprising the steps of: forming a polycarbonate resin via melt transesterification; mixing a flame retardant component to form a composition, wherein the mixing is accomplished as an online operation; and forming the article from the composition, wherein the article achieves a better flame rating than a comparative article formed from a substantially identical reference composition comprising the same loading of the polycarbonate resin and the flame retardant component, but a mixing of the polycarbonate resin and the flame retardant component of the substantially identical reference composition is accomplished as an offline operation.

(In the formula, R1 represents a C8-36 alkyl group or a C8-36 alkenyl group. R2-R5 each represent hydrogen, halogen, or an optionally substituted C1-20 alkyl group or C6-12 aryl group).

摘要: A process for purifying a diaryl carbonate, comprises introducing an aqueous stream to a diaryl carbonate stream that comprises a metal contaminant, wherein the aqueous stream reacts with the metal contaminant to form a precipitate; wherein introducing the aqueous stream to the diaryl carbonate stream results in introducing 100 to 10,000 ppm water based on the total composition of the diaryl carbonate stream and the aqueous stream; removing the precipitate via one or both of a separation column and a filter to result in a purified diaryl carbonate.

摘要: The present invention provides a process for preparing a highly polymerized aromatic polycarbonate resin which not only has excellent quality such that it has high molecular weight and high fluidity, but also has more excellent heat resistance. The process of the present invention comprises a highly polymerizing step for reacting an aromatic polycarbonate prepolymer with an aliphatic diol compound of the following formula (I) having hydroxymethyl groups (HO—CH2—) each bonded to a quaternary carbon atom in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to obtain a highly polymerized aromatic polycarbonate resin: wherein Ra to Rf, n, and m are as defined in the present specification and claims.
