Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a particulate, Si-bonded fluidized-bed catalyst having improved abrasion resistance, which comprises the steps I. provision of an aqueous suspension comprising zeolite particles, II. addition of a silicone resin mixture comprising one or more hydrolyzable silicone resin precondensates and mixing of the aqueous suspension and the silicone resin mixture, III. spray drying of the mixture obtained from step II, with the mixture being homogenized before spray drying, and IV. calcination of the spray-dried fluidized-bed catalyst obtained from step III, and an Si-bonded fluidized-bed catalyst which can be produced by this process and also its use for the nonoxidative dehydroaromatization of C1-C4-aliphatics.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for processing hydrocarbons are provided. In one embodiment, a method for processing hydrocarbons includes providing a stream of olefins including normal olefins and non-normal olefins. The method includes separating the normal olefins from the non-normal olefins to form a stream of normal olefins. Further, the method polymerizes the stream of normal olefins to form a stream of polymerized normal olefins. The method also includes saturating the stream of polymerized normal olefins to form a stream of normal paraffins.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method for preparing renewable and relatively high purity p-xylene from biomass. For example, biomass treated to provide a fermentation feedstock is fermented with a microorganism capable of producing a C4 alcohol such as isobutanol, then sequentially dehydrating the isobutanol in the presence of a dehydration catalyst to provide a C4 alkene such as isobutylene, dimerizing the C4 alkene to a form one or more C8 alkenes such as 2,4,4-trimethylpentenes or 2,5-dimethylhexene, then dehydrocyclizing the C8 alkenes in the presence of a dehydrocyclization catalyst to selectively form renewable p-xylene in high overall yield. The p-xylene can then be oxidized to form terephthalic acid or terephthalate esters.
Abstract:
This invention is a process modification to enable maximization of benzene production from intermediate refinery streams and virgin condensate or other streams having benzene precursors. The modified process or a unique sequence of refinery units also concentrates benzene and xylene precursors if so desired. This concentrated precursor stream is processed by a specific low severity, high yield naphtha reformer. The modified process results in maximizing benzene or xylene volume and reducing overall operating costs especially for refineries producing aromatics and high quality gasoline simultaneously and producing additional benzene from toluene.

The present invention relates to new crystalline zeolite SSZ-42 prepared by processes for preparing crystalline molecular sieves, particularly large pore zeolites, using an organic templating agent selected from the group consisting of N-benzyl-1,4-diazabicyclo2.2.2!octane cations and N-benzyl-1-azabicyclo2.2.2!octane cations.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a regeneration process for a catalyst containing at least one metallic element selected from the group formed by platinum, palladium, ruthenium, rhodium, osmium, iridium and nickel, preferably platinum, on a refractory oxide based support, which has been deactivated by coke deposition. The regeneration process is characterised in that said regeneration consists of treatment with a gas containing at least chlorine and molecular oxygen, at a temperature between 20.degree. C. and 800.degree. C. and a total gas flow rate, expressed in litres of gas per hour and per gram of catalyst, of between 0.05 and 20. The process at least restores the initial catalytic properties of the catalyst.

Abstract:
A feedstock comprising olefinic hydrocarbons having more than one double bond per molecule is selectively hydrogenated to produce hydrocarbons having less unsaturation relative to the feedstock by contacting the feedstock in the presence of steam and hydrogen with a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal or an oxide thereof on a carrier comprising a Group II metal aluminate spinel containing tin or an oxide of tin. The feedstock can be produced by reforming paraffin and cycloparaffin hydrocarbons in the presence of steam with a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal or an oxide thereof on a carrier comprising a Group II metal aluminate spinel containing tin or an oxide of tin.
