    Abstract: In order to adjust the tire internal pressure on landing to an appropriate internal pressure, the internal pressure and temperature of the tires when housed inside the aircraft in flight, the temperature and atmospheric pressure around the aircraft, and the altitudes and air temperatures at the takeoff and landing sites of the aircraft are obtained, and a target internal pressure at takeoff is calculated from information relating to the altitude and air temperature at the takeoff airport, after which an in-flight tire internal pressure whereby the tire internal pressure becomes a target internal pressure on landing is calculated from the temperature and atmospheric pressure around the tires of the aircraft, the air temperature and atmospheric pressure at the landing airport, and information relating to a load anticipated to act on the tires on landing, and subsequently the in-flight tire internal pressure is adjusted so that the obtained internal pressure of the tires housed inside the aircraft becomes the calculated in-flight tire internal pressure.

    Abstract: An apparatus for regulating air pressure level in a tire is provided herein. The apparatus includes a housing attached to the tire; a piston located inside the housing, coupled to the housing via a spring; a one-way valve; and locking elements located at a specified location along said housing, wherein the piston is configured to move towards a first end of the housing responsive to an imbalance between centrifugal force applied to the piston due to angular speed of the tire and force applied thereto by the spring means, wherein the locking elements are configured to lock the piston at the specified location whenever the tire reaches a predefined angular speed, and release the piston once the angular speed of the tire crosses a predefined threshold, so that said piston moves towards a second end of the sleeve producing an air pulse, conveyed by the one-way valve into the tire.

    Abstract: A tire inflation system including an axle housing and a sealing ring disposed on the axle housing. The sealing ring has a conduit formed therethrough. A hub is rotatably disposed on the axle housing. The hub is disposed adjacent the sealing ring and has a conduit formed therethrough which is in fluid communication with a conduit formed through a fastener engaged with the hub. The tire inflation system also includes an inner rotary seal disposed between the sealing ring and the hub and an outer rotary seal disposed between the sealing ring and the hub. The conduit formed through the hub is in fluid communication with the conduit formed through the sealing ring through an area between the inner rotary seal and the outer rotary seal. A bearing seal is disposed between the hub and the axle housing and outboard of the outer rotary seal.

    Abstract: An air maintenance tire and pump assembly includes a tire having a tire cavity, first and second sidewalls extending from first and second tire bead regions, respectively, to a tire tread region, an elongate substantially annular air passageway enclosed within a bending region of the sidewalls, the air passageway operatively closing and opening, segment by segment, as the bending region of the sidewalls passes adjacent a rolling tire footprint to pump air along the air passageway, an air inlet port assembly coupled to, and in air flow communication with, the air passageway, the air inlet port assembly being operable to channel inlet air from outside of the tire into the air passageway, the air inlet port assembly including an inlet control valve and an outlet tee structure positioned 180° opposite the inlet control valve in the air passageway for moving air into the tire cavity, the inlet control valve including two inlet check valves for ensuring air flow only into, and not out of, the inlet control valve, the air passageway, a corresponding plain tee inlet structure, and the tire cavity, and a pressure relief valve for relieving a volume equal to a last segment volume of the air passageway plus a volume of the outlet tee structure.
