摘要: A method and an apparatus for treating a liquid containing impurities may include a filtering chamber configured to permit granular media to interact with liquid containing impurities, thereby removing impurities from the liquid to produce filtrate; a filtrate section for receiving the filtrate; a gas supplying system for delivering gas to the granular media in the filtering chamber for transport of a portion of the granular media to a granular media washer; a reject section in fluid communication with the granular media washer for receiving a reject mixture comprising liquid and impurities from the granular media washer; and a control unit that is configured to determine whether the portion of the granular media is being transported properly based on an amount of reject mixture in the reject section.

摘要: A method and a computer program product performs a backwash process, which facilitates a reduction in a reject rate associated with a water treatment tank. A determination is made as to whether or not the water treatment tank is in need of a backwash process, and if so, the following functions are performed. An upper burst solenoid is operated to start an airlift flow in a first airlift path at a first position and at a first point in time, at a bottom portion of the water treatment tank. A lower burst solenoid is operated to start an airlift flow in a second airlift path at a second position and at a second point in time, at a bottom portion of the water treatment tank, the second position being below the first position and the second point in time being after the first point in time. The airlift flow in the first and second airlift paths enables suitable water flow within the water treatment tank.

摘要: 1,200,655. Clarifying vessel. SOC. D'ETUDES POUR LE TRAITEMENT ET L'UTIILISATION DES EAUX. 22 Aug., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 38705/67. Heading B1D. A clarifying vessel for removing impurities from liquids comprises, within an outer envelope 1, a compartment 4, 5 in which a fluidised bed, dirt agglomeration process is intended to occur, and a compartment 3 for classical filtration, whereby the liquid rises in the pre-treatment compartment, slows down owing to the increasing cross-section thereby avoiding entrainment of the agglomerated particles, and overflows into the filtration compartment over a weir 2. As described, compartment 4, 5 surrounds compartment 3 concentrically, and may be sub-divided by radial walls. Liquid enters through perforated pipes 10, 11 and after filtration through sand 9 enters a chamber 8. To keep clean the material 13 of the fluidised bed, it is circulated by a pump 15 through a hydrocyclone 17 which removes the agglomerated particles. A gutter 19 is provided for discharging the washing water. Specification 1200364 is referred to.

摘要: A sorter for sorting a mixture having at least a first material with a first density from a second material with a second density different than the first density, comprising a container adapted to receive the mixture, a bed forming a base of the container provided with a series of openings extending from a bottom of the base to a top of the base, a granular layer positioned on the bed, and an air supply line providing air to the openings. In operation, the mixture is positioned above the granular layer, and the air supply supplies air to the granular layer at a rate sufficient to allow the sorting of the first material into a separate portion of the container from the second material.
