摘要: Dialysis systems and methods for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) for conducting dialysis treatments are disclosed. The dialysis system may include a dialysis machine for transferring dialysate to a patient from a dialysate source. The dialysate may flow from the dialysate source through a cartridge or cassette (e.g., a disposable cartridge or cassette) positionable within the dialysis machine. The dialysis machine includes a piston or pump for pumping fluid (e.g., dialysate) from the cassette to the patient. In various embodiments, the dialysis machine includes one or more sensors for monitoring a condition. For example, the dialysis machine may include sensor(s) for monitoring proper alignment of the cassette within the cassette compartment, or sensors mounted on the pump head for monitoring a leak during a dialysis operation, or sensors for monitoring improper operation of the pumps (e.g., pistons), or a combination thereof.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a system for monitoring the fluid balance of a patient. The system includes a fluid infusion system to deliver an infusion fluid to the patient, and a urine output (CO) system to collect and measure a UO expelled from the patient. The UO system is coupled with the fluid infusion system. A fluid input/output (I/O) logic determines fluid I/O data from fluid infusion data and CO data, rendering the I/O data on a display, and transferring I/O data to an electronic medical record. A method of monitoring a fluid balance of a patient can include: (i) calculating a fluid balance from the I/O data, (ii) comparing the fluid balance with a fluid balance limit stored in a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, and (iii) generating an alert when the fluid balance exceeds the fluid balance limit. The method can also include generating a revised infusion order from the I/O data.

Functions of the fluid management systems can include fluid pressurization, fluid warming, fluid deficit monitoring (including flow-based and weight-based), suction, fluid collection, and fluid evacuation (including indirect-to-drain and direct-to-drain options). The systems can be configured based on the surgical environment (e.g., operating room or physician office) as well as other user needs and/or preferences.

摘要: Described is a large volume parenteral (LVP) infusion device system including a cassette and a pump. The system can include means for sensing pressure in a pump having a symmetric or matched, parallel dual chamber pumping mechanism and an attached cassette. The system can include a cassette having dual pumping chambers and a distal fitment, the distal fitment having an outlet port configured for attachment to tubing for infusion administration and being disposed on a distal end of the cassette, the distal fitment further including opposing cutouts. The system can also an air in line sensor, the AIL sensor configured to bracket the distal fitment at the position of the cutout when the cassette is loaded on the pump. The cassette can be mechanically coupled to the pump. The cassette can include a user actionable flow stop. The system can be configured for cassette misload protection.

摘要: Pump includes a motor, a cam shaft coupled to the motor for rotation about a longitudinal axis of the cam shaft, the cam shaft having at least one radially-outward projection defining a helical engagement portion disposed along a length of the cam shaft, and a plurality of finger plates disposed along the length of the cam shaft, each finger plate mounted for movement in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the cam shaft, each finger plate having an aperture defined therein to receive the cam shaft therethrough, each aperture having a substantially straight edge region and an opposing edge region. Engagement of the helical engagement portion with the substantially flat edge region during rotation of the cam shaft urges the finger plate transversely toward an extended position. Systems and techniques for delivering a beneficial agent to a user are also provided.

摘要: A pumping cassette including a housing having at least two inlet fluid lines and at least two outlet fluid lines. At least one balancing pod within the housing and in fluid connection with the fluid paths. The balancing pod balances the flow of a first fluid and the flow of a second fluid such that the volume of the first fluid equals the volume of the second fluid. The balancing pod also includes a membrane that forms two balancing chambers. Also included in the cassette is at least two reciprocating pressure displacement membrane pumps. The pumps are within the housing and they pump the fluid from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet line and pump the second fluid from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet.

The patient line state detector can also the ability to detect whether a patient line has been properly mounted for priming. Both patient line presence/absence and fill state can be determined using an optical system, e.g., one that employs a single optical sensor.

The cartridge can selectively attach to and be detached from the drive unit. The cartridge can initially be inserted onto the drive unit in a first orientation at an angle to the drive unit and then be rotated to align the cartridge with the drive unit and lock the cartridge in place on the drive unit to form the patch pump.

摘要: An electronic device includes a mouthpiece, a bladder, and a mesh assembly having a mesh material and a piezoelectric material. The mesh material is in contact with a liquid of the bladder. The mouthpiece, the bladder, and the mesh assembly are located in-line along a longitudinal axis of the device between opposite longitudinal ends of the device, with the mesh assembly extending between and separating the mouthpiece and the bladder. A liquid-filled cartridge also is disclosed for use with an electronic device for delivery of a substance into a body through respiration includes a liquid container; and a liquid contained within the container for aerosolizing and inhaling by a person using the electronic device. The liquid includes a plurality of nanoparticles in a nanoemulsion, the nanoparticles including the encapsulation of the substance to be delivered into the body through respiration. The nanoemulsion preferably is produced using a microfluidizing machine.
