摘要: The invention relates to a spinal implant composed of a plurality of parallel plates. The deliberate introduction of contours in the plates allows for the creation of biomechanically advantageous functions and adjustment options. The elasticity of the anchoring elements enables the disclosed implant to be adjusted to the osseous endplates, resulting in uniform force distribution and thus prevention of the risk of compaction or endplate compression fracture. The plate structure allows for the use of production methods in which hook-like undercut contours can be created, thus enabling the implant to be superbly anchored in the bone without causing damage thereto. Furthermore, the plates can be interconnected by an actuator in such a way that the height and/or the angular position can be adjusted. The vertical adjustment can vary along the length of the implant such that the segment can also be angularly adjusted.

摘要: The invention relates to a cage-type intervertebral implant that is made up of a dished side wall (1), a cambered side wall (2), a front part (3), a rear part (4) and at least one intermediate wall (5, 6), thus comprising at least two cavities (7, 8, 9). An upper and a lower cage surface (10, 11) include a first lordosis angle (null1) in the direction front part-rear part and a second lordosis angle (null2) perpendicular thereto, said cage surfaces (10, 11) intersecting outside the cage. The cage structure is characterized by a doubler-wedge geometry (double-wedge-shaped cage) that is defined by the two lordosis angles (null1) and (null2) and that advantageously adapts itself to the anatomical conditions in the intervertebral area. The cage is further characterized by a high moment of tilt that effectively counteracts a tipping of the cage. The method used for producing the cage structure is essentially characterized by working the cage material by means of a high-pressure water jet, said cold-cutting technique having proved to be the most economical.

摘要: A prosthetic part for use as an orthopedic implant has a base member defining an outer surface for implantation adjacent a prepared bone surface. The outer surface includes a recessed area having a predetermined shape and depth. A first rigid plate having this predetermined shape and having a plurality of elongated slots formed therein is fixedly attached within the recesssed area of the base member. A second rigid plate also having the same predetermined shape as the recess and also having a plurality of elongated slots formed therein is attached to the first rigid plate. The elongated slots of the second plate are angularly offset with respect to the elongated slots in the first plate to produce a controlled porosity. The thicknesses of the first and second plates are predetermined so that the outer surface of the second plate is continuous with the non-recessed outer surface of the base member.

摘要: An expandable implant is disclosed having an adjustable height for insertion between two adjacent bony structures or joint surfaces, for example between two adjacent spinal vertebrae. The implant includes at least one gear associated with at least one threaded shaft. Rotation of the gear engages the threaded shaft to expand the implant. The implant can be inserted in a collapsed configuration and expanded in situ. The invention also provides methods for using the implant to facilitate arthrodesis or fusion of adjacent joint surfaces or spinal vertebrae.
