Abstract: A detector (2) for a positron emission tomography (PET)-scanning device is provided, the detector (2) including an opening (28) sized to accommodate the head of a human patient (P) and a plurality of sensor modules (22), which serve to detect emitted PET-radiation from the human patient (P) and which are arranged in the form of a regular polygon having a plurality of corners (24a, 24b, 24c). The detector further has an inner surface (23), which is arranged radially inside of the sensor modules (22), in order to circumferentially delimit the opening (28). The sensor modules (22) are arranged such that one of the corners is a nose corner (24a) which is adapted to accommodate the patient's nose (N) in the intended normal use of the detector (2). The inner surface (23) reflects the shape of the polygon at least in the region of the nose corner (24a).

Abstract: A mobile medical imaging device that allows for multiple support structures, such as a tabletop or a seat, to be attached, and in which the imaging gantry is indexed to the patient by translating up and down the patient axis. In one embodiment, the imaging gantry can translate, rotate and/or tilt with respect to a support base, enabling imaging in multiple orientations, and can also rotate in-line with the support base to facilitate easy transport and/or storage of the device. The radiation source elevating mechanism and the detector elevating mechanism change an interval between the plurality of imaging units in a rotation axis direction. Abstract: An integrated radiopharmaceutical patient treatment system is disclosed including a patient support platform with an associated patient stimulus apparatus, an imager proximate the patient support platform, a radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system for infusing a radiopharmaceutical fluid into a patient, a patient monitor to be associated with a patient, and an integrated system controller operably associated with the patient stimulus apparatus, imager, radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system, and patient monitor to control and coordinate their operations. Within the patient treatment system the radiopharmaceutical fluid delivery system may be included comprising a radionuclide supply module, a radiopharmaceutical processing module, a quality control module, a patient injection module, and a controller. A hazardous fluid handling system including a docking station and a hazardous fluid transport device adapted to detachably dock with the docking station is further disclosed.

Abstract: A patient treatment system includes one or more automated patient transporters configured to move a patient from a preparation area to one of a plurality of alternative treatment areas, and to position the patient relative to a therapeutic radiation beam. In one implementation, the medical apparatus includes a hadron therapy device adapted for directing a hadron beam having an initial beam energy along a beam path to a target spot located inside a subject of interest; an MRI for acquiring a magnetic resonance (MR) image within an imaging volume having the target spot; a prompt-γ system adapted for acquiring a signal generated by the hadron beam; and a controller configured for computing an actual position of the Bragg peak of the hadron beam, based on the signal acquired by the PG system, and locating the actual position of the Bragg peak on the MR image.
