The present invention relates to a fabric comprising at least one woven layer and at least one nonwoven layer, wherein the number ratio between the at least one woven layer and the at least one nonwoven layer is in the range of 0.1 to 1. The fabric according to the present invention can particularly be used in the manufacture of ballistic vests, hard and soft armor, stab and knife protection systems, and anti-ballistic systems, and they provide a highly reduction of likelihood of ricochets using such systems.

This invention relates to a flame-resistant spun staple yarns and fabrics and garments comprising these yarns and methods of making the same. The yarns have 25 to 90 parts by weight of a polymeric staple fiber containing a structure derived from a monomer selected from the group consisting of 4,4′diaminodiphenyl sulfone, 3,3′diaminodiphenyl sulfone, and mixtures thereof; and 10 to 75 parts by weight of a textile staple fiber having limiting oxygen index of 21 or greater, based on 100 parts by weight of the polymeric fiber and the textile fiber in the yarn.

The present invention relates to a heat, flame, and electric arc resistant fabric (1) for use as single or outer layer of protective garments. The fabric (1) of the invention comprises at least two separate single plies which are assembled together at predefined positions so as to build pockets (4). The fabric (1) of the invention is made of materials independently chosen from the group consisting of aramid fibers and filaments, polybenzimidazol fibers and filaments, polyamidimid fibers and filaments, poly(paraphephenylene benzobisaxazole) fibers and filaments, phenol-formaldehyde fibers and filaments, melamine fibers and filaments, natural fibers and filaments, synthetic fibers and filaments, artificial fibers and filaments, glass fibers and filaments, carbon fibers and filaments, metal fibers and filaments, and composites thereof. Due to its peculiar structure, the fabric (1) according to the present invention can have a specific weight which is considerably lower than that of known fabrics having comparable mechanical and thermal properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing fiber composites impregnated with a thermoplastic resin to be used as stab and ballistic composite structures. If compared with the manufacturing processes of the state of the art, the method according to the present invention enables to prepare stab and ballistic resistant composite structures in a more efficient way by reducing the complexity of the manufacturing machine and at a lower cost.

The present invention provides a use of a thermoplastic composition for manufacturing a personal protection equipment for personal ballistic, stab and knife protection, wherein the thermoplastic composition comprises at least a first thermoplastic polymer that has a melting point different to the melting point of a second thermoplastic polymer. Further, the present invention provides a personal protection equipment comprising a plurality of ballistic fabric layers, and at least one thermoplastic composition for use in ballistic applications, wherein the thermoplastic composition comprises at least a first thermoplastic polymer as set forth above.

This invention relates to heat and flame resistant single ply fabric for use as a single or outer layer of a protective garment for a wearer. The fabric comprises at least one warp system and at least two weft systems. The warp system comprises a blend of 60 to 90 wt-% poly-m-phenylenisophtalamid (meta-aramid) and 10 to 40 wt-% poly-p-phenylenterephtalamid (para-aramid). The first of the at least two weft systems comprises a blend of 85 to 95 wt-% meta-aramid and 5 to 15 wt-% para-aramid. The second of the at least two weft systems essentially comprises para-aramid.

A substantially torqueless composite dual core-spun yarn (10) has a substantially inelastic central hard core (20) covered with a dual-spun fiber covering (30). The central hard core (20) has an elongation at break less than 50% and a Z or S twist, and the fiber covering (30) comprises fibers twisted on the core (20) with an S or Z twist opposite to that of the core. The opposite twists of the core (20) and of the covering (30) exert opposite and substantially equal torques. This yarn is produced by introducing two slivers (30A,30B) forming the covering (30) and a central core in a spinning triangle (40). The core (20) is fed overtwisted S or Z and the slivers (30A,30B) have an opposite Z or S twist corresponding to about 30% to 70% of the twist of the fed overtwisted core (20) that detwists during spinning. The inelastic core (20) is fed at controlled speed to compensate for the angle of feed and to compensate for detwisting, and is guided into the spinning triangle (40) by a guide groove (52) in a feed roller (50).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fabric comprising a warp system and a weft system. The warp system comprises at least one flame retardant yarn comprising aramid fibers and the weft system comprises at least one core spun yarn. The flame retardant yarn of the warp system is covered by at least 70% of the weft system.The fabric according to the present invention has an ink receptive surface and a thermal protection surface, and has particularly excellent mechanical, flame resistance and printability properties due to the structure of its weft and warp systems and the materials used and is particularly useful in confection of combat uniforms. Furthermore, the fabric according to the present invention is also exceptionally abrasion resistant, which prevents the fading of a printed image thereon.
