摘要: A composition includes specific amounts of a poly(alkylene terephthalate) and an epoxy compound having a weight average molecular weight of at least (500) daltons, and an epoxy equivalent weight of at least (400) grams per equivalent. The composition exhibits high melt flow, and articles molded from the composition exhibit reduced high-temperature outgassing compared to corresponding compounds without the epoxy compound. The composition is suitable for molding directly metallizable reflectors and bezels for automotive headlights.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a security device is provided. The method comprises providing a substrate, the substrate having opposing first and second surfaces and a relief structure formed in the first surface of the substrate. A reflection enhancing layer is applied over the first surface of the substrate such that the reflection enhancing layer at least partially overlaps the relief structure and such that a first region of the first surface of the substrate does not have the reflection enhancing layer. An absorber layer is applied over the reflection enhancing layer such that the absorber layer at least partially overlaps the reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure where the reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure overlap each other, and such that the absorber layer at least partially overlaps the first region of the first surface of the substrate. An optical spacer layer is applied over the absorber layer such that the optical spacer layer at least partially overlaps the absorber layer, reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure where the absorber layer, reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure overlap each other, and such that the optical spacer layer at least partially overlaps the absorber layer and the first region where the absorber layer and the first region overlap each other. A reflector layer, formed of an at least partially reflective material, is applied over the optical spacer layer such that the reflector layer at least partially overlaps the optical spacer layer, the absorber layer, the reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure where the optical spacer layer, the absorber layer, the reflection enhancing layer and the relief structure overlap each other, and such that the reflector layer at least partially overlaps the optical spacer layer, the absorber layer and the first region where the optical spacer layer, the absorber layer and the first region overlap each other. The reflection enhancing layer and the absorber layer are formed of the same material. The absorber layer, the optical spacer layer and the reflector layer, together, form a colour-shifting structure. The reflection enhancing layer and the absorber layer, together, are substantially opaque or transmit less than 40% of incident light, preferably less than 20% of incident light.

摘要: Woven preforms, for example those used for jet aircraft engine fancases, may need additional stiffeners to improve the strength and/or dynamic performance of the preform assembly, as well as to serve as attachment points. The present invention describes several improved woven preforms that include circumferential or axial stiffeners, as well as methods of manufacturing the same. One embodiment includes circumferential stiffeners added to a woven preform. Another embodiment includes sub-preforms with integral flanges that combine to make integral stiffeners. A further embodiment includes an intermediate stiffener wrapped onto a base sub-preform wrap, wherein the intermediate stiffener wrap incorporates intermediate stiffeners. Another embodiment incorporates bifurcations in one or more layers of an outermost wrap of a multi-layer fabric composite that forms a preform, wherein the bifurcated outer wrap is folded to form stiffeners that may be oriented circumferentially or axially.

摘要: A method of bonding a first part on a second part made of composite material by an adhesive, in which the adhesive is filled with elements of shape memory alloy, is provided. A method of un-sticking the first part adhesively bonded on the composite material second part is also provided. The un-sticking method includes a step of weakening the adhesive interface that consists in subjecting the adhesively bonded parts to heat treatment performed at a temperature that is lower or higher than the martensitic transformation temperature of the shape memory alloy elements.
