Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle which may maximize a driving distance in an engine clutch failure situation and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. The method of controlling the hybrid electric vehicle provided with an engine clutch installed between a first motor and an engine includes, in response to a determination that failure of the engine clutch occurs, determining a state of the engine clutch just prior to the failure, in response to a determination that the state of the engine clutch just prior to the failure is an open state, driving the first motor alone, and in response to a determination that the state of the engine clutch just prior to the failure is not the open state, starting the engine.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of controlling a hybrid electric vehicle having a transmission, an engine, and first and second drive motors. The method includes: performing charging through the first drive motor using the power of the engine by engaging an engine clutch disposed between the engine and the first drive motor while a vehicle is stopped with the gear stage shifted to the parking (P) range; turning off the engine and controlling the clutch of the transmission to enter an open state when the gear stage is shifted to the driving (D) range; and commencing movement of the vehicle using the second drive motor alone or using at least one of the first drive motor or the engine together with the second drive motor based on at least one of requested torque, available torque of the second drive motor, or the speed of the first drive motor.

Abstract: A method for learning a touch point of an engine clutch of a hybrid electric vehicle including a motor connected to a transmission and an engine selectively connected to the motor through the engine clutch includes determining whether a learning condition of the touch point of the engine clutch is satisfied, releasing a transmission clutch and controlling a motor speed when the learning condition is satisfied, increasing a coupling pressure of the engine clutch when a change amount of the motor speed is less than a first predetermined value, comparing a change amount of a motor torque according to the increased coupling pressure of the engine clutch with a second predetermined value, and learning the touch point of the engine clutch when the change amount of the motor torque is greater than or equal to the second predetermined value.

Abstract: A method for determining a connection state of an engine clutch includes: a stroke sensing operation of sensing, by a controller, a change of an actuator stroke of the engine clutch; a first pressure comparing operation of determining whether or not an actuator pressure of the engine clutch exceeds a first set pressure and is then changed to below the first set pressure when the actuator stroke is increased; a torque comparing operation of comparing transfer a torque of the engine clutch with a set torque when the actuator pressure exceeds the first set pressure and is then operated to below the first set pressure; and an open determining operation of determining that the engine clutch is in an open state when the transfer torque of the engine clutch is the set torque or less.

Abstract: A non-uniform displacement engine control system with different control modes based on a state of charge (SOC) of a battery, the system includes a non-uniform displacement engine including a plurality of cylinders, the cylinders comprising at least two sizes of cylinders having different displacements, a motor connected to a driving shaft of the engine, a battery for supplying electrical energy to the motor, and a motor control device for controlling the motor, wherein the motor control device controls the motor to compensate for a difference in torque due to different displacements of the cylinders such that a sum of engine torque and motor torque in explosion stroke of each cylinder is uniform, and the motor control device has a charge intention mode or a discharge intention mode based on the SOC of the battery.

Abstract: A method for learning an engine clutch kiss point of a hybrid vehicle includes: controlling, by a controller, an engine clutch which connects an engine with a motor or disconnects the engine from the motor so that the engine clutch is engaged after the controller checks stop of the engine and of the motor and stabilization operation for a hydraulic pressure line of the engine clutch is performed; controlling the motor to have a certain speed after the stabilization operation; controlling the engine clutch to be engaged after speed of the motor is stabilized; determining whether torque variation of the motor when the engine clutch is engaged is equal to or greater than a threshold value; and determining a hydraulic pressure at which the torque variation is the threshold value as the kiss point of the engine clutch.

Abstract: A non-uniform displacement engine control system having a transient state control mode includes a non-uniform displacement engine including a plurality of cylinders, the cylinders including at least two sizes of cylinders having different displacements, a motor connected to a driving shaft of the engine, a battery for supplying electrical energy to the motor, and a motor control unit for controlling the motor, wherein the motor control unit controls the motor such that a sum of engine torque and motor torque in explosion strokes of each cylinder is uniform by compensating for a difference in torque caused by the cylinders having different displacements, and the motor control unit has a transient state control mode for additionally applying offset torque to predetermined motor torque at a time of rapid acceleration or rapid deceleration.
