Abstract: An internal combustion engine controller is applied to an internal combustion engine incorporating a turbocharger. The engine includes an intake passage, a compressor arranged in the intake passage, a bypass passage connecting portions of the intake passage at upstream and downstream sides of the compressor. An air bypass valve adjusts a flowrate of intake air passing through the bypass passage. The internal combustion engine controller includes an acceleration determination unit and an ABV control unit. The acceleration determination unit is configured to detect an acceleration request sent to the internal combustion engine and determine whether or not the acceleration request is in an initial stage. The ABV control unit is configured to execute a temporary open/close control to open the air bypass valve for a specified period when determined by the acceleration determination unit that the acceleration request is in the initial stage.

Abstract: In the present disclosure, pressurized fuel is directly injected from a fuel injection valve into a cylinder, and a fuel pressure is controlled to a target fuel pressure. A target fuel pressure during early depressurization is calculated on the basis of a target amount of intake air that is a target load of an internal-combustion engine, a target fuel pressure during a normal state is set on the basis of an actual amount of intake air that is an actual load of the internal-combustion engine, and a lower one of the target fuel pressure during early depressurization and the target fuel pressure during a normal state is set as the target fuel pressure.

Abstract: Systems and methods for operating an engine that includes an electrically driven compressor are disclosed. In one example, a vehicle operating mode is determined and speed of an electrically driven compressor is adjusted responsive to the vehicle operating mode so that an engine may supply torque sooner in response to an increasing torque command.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for using a forced induction system as a source of compressed air to pressurize a portable pressure vessel for inflating tires. In one example, a method may include providing instructions to the operator to initiate the method which includes the operator coupling the portable pressure vessel to a connection port included on the induction passage of the induction manifold. Responsive to more than one operator input, a controller selectively opens a pick-up valve in the connection port, and operates a plurality of engine systems to boost pressure in the induction passage to fill the portable pressure vessel.

Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, includes: a throttle operator; an opening degree detector that detects an operation opening degree of the throttle operator; and an electronic control throttle device that opens and closes a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage of the engine, depending on the operation opening degree detected by the opening degree detector. A throttle valve opening degree of the throttle valve is set to include a zero output throttle opening degree angle at which an output of the engine becomes zero between a low rotational speed region and a high rotational speed region of the engine. The operation opening degree of the throttle operator corresponding to the zero output throttle opening degree angle is set to an opening-side angle ratio that falls within a range between 8% and 12%, both inclusive, with respect to a fully-open opening degree of the throttle operator.

Abstract: A method for controlling a marine engine for propelling a marine vessel includes receiving user input as a user input device to control acceleration of a marine vessel, detecting a rapid acceleration command based on the user input, and determining an advanced spark timing based on at least one of engine speed and engine load, wherein the advanced spark timing adjusts a base spark time by a spark advance offset. A fuel increase is then determined based on the spark advance offset, and then an increased fuel injection amount is determined by increasing a base fuel injection amount by the fuel increase. Spark and fuel delivery are then controlled for one or more cylinders of the marine engine based on the advanced spark timing and the increased fuel injection amount.

Abstract: To improve responsiveness of fuel supply control, a rotary carburetor 100 has a nozzle 8 including a fuel discharge port 8a and a needle 10 disposed coaxially with the nozzle 8 and disposed with a portion inserted into the nozzle 8. The needle 10 can be displaced relative to the nozzle 8 to change an effective area of the fuel discharge port 8a. The rotary carburetor 100 has an electric motor 14 for displacing the needle 10 along an axis, and a drive mechanism component 12 interposed between the electric motor 14 and the needle 10 and converting a rotational movement of the electric motor into a linear movement.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine (10) including a control target (60V, 52) that controls controlled variable (Pim, Regr). The control apparatus according to the invention is capable of selectively performing single control that is control for controlling the controlled variable to a target value thereof (Pimt, Regrt) without considering a change in the controlled variable that acts as a disturbance on the control of the controlled variable, and composite control that is control for controlling the controlled variable to the target value thereof in consideration of the change in the controlled variable that acts as the disturbance on the control of the controlled variable. The controlled variable is controlled to the target value thereof through the single control when an absolute value of a controlled variable change rate (Rpim, Rregr) is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value (Rpimth, Rregrth). The controlled variable is controlled to the target value thereof through the composite control when the absolute value of the controlled variable change rate is larger than the predetermined value.
