摘要: A method for operating an internal combustion engine includes the steps of determining an oxygen filling state of an oxygen storage of a catalytic converter by way of a first lambda signal provided by a first lambda probe and an offset value, the first lambda probe being arranged in an exhaust gas stream upstream of the catalytic converter; when a second lambda signal provided by a second lambda probe arranged in the exhaust gas stream upstream of the catalytic converter falls below a lower lambda signal threshold, setting the oxygen filling state to a first value corresponding to an empty oxygen storage and/or when the second lambda signal exceeds a upper lambda signal threshold setting the oxygen filling state to a second value corresponding to a full oxygen storage; immediately thereafter regulating the oxygen filling state during at least one regulation time period to a target filling state; and after expiration of the regulation time period adjusting the offset value by way of the second lambda signal.

摘要: A microcomputer determines, in a first monitoring routine, whether a required injection amount was normally computed in a fuel injection amount control routine, based on the required injection amount computed in the fuel injection amount control routine, and detected values of engine operating conditions used for computation of the required injection amount in the routine, and determines, in a second monitoring routine, whether an injector was normally driven based on the required injection amount, based on the required injection amount computed in the fuel injection amount control routine, and a measurement result of a current application period of injector drive current.

摘要: An engine control system for a direct injection-spark ignition type of engine which is equipped with an exhaust system having a lean NOx conversion catalyst for lowering a NOx level of exhaust gas while the engine operates in a lean fuel charge zone controls the engine to make stratified charge combustion in a zone of partial engine loadings and homogeneous charge combustion in a zone other than said partial engine loading zone and, while the engine operates in a zone where enriched homogeneous charge combustion is made, divides a given amount of fuel into two parts and sprays them through early and late split injection in a intake stroke and admits exhaust gas partly into an intake air stream introduced into the intake system from the exhaust system while the early and late split injection are made. The split injection are caused such that a midpoint between points at which the early and late split injection are timed to start before a midpoint of a intake stroke.

摘要: A fuel supply and metering valve assembly used for fuel injection to an internal combustion engine includes a control pressure circuit which determines the restoring force on the movable valve member of the metering valve. The magnitude of the control pressure, and hence the fuel quantity metered out by the valve assembly, can be altered by intermittent actuation of a pressure relief valve whose duty cycle is controlled by an oxygen sensor located in the exhaust line of the engine. The oxygen sensor voltage is superimposed on a sawtooth voltage at the input of a control circuit which varies the duty cycle of the bypass valve. When the oxygen sensor is too cold to generate an output signal, the control circuit is provided with a temporary control signal supplied by a timing circuit until the oxygen sensor has reached its normal temperature and generates an output signal.

摘要: An air-fuel ratio adjusting device in an internal combustion engine having a carburetor, comprising an oxygen sensor whereby oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas is detected and control means whereby the detected oxygen concentration is compared with the air-fuel ratio in the mixture and an output signal corresponding to the difference therebetween is produced, the output signal being applied to an electromagnetic fuel injection system provided in the carburetor. A regulator is provided between the main fuel supply system and the electromagnetic fuel injection system in the carburetor. Also, a cold start nozzle which is controlled on engine starting is provided in the intake system.
