摘要: A method for controlling a dual fuel engine system includes determining a gas flow target for an internal combustion engine of the dual fuel engine system, where the gas flow target is based on a gas power target of the internal combustion engine, a thermal efficiency estimate of the internal combustion engine, and a lower heating value (LHV) within the internal combustion engine. The method also includes adjusting the gas flow target based on at least one of a measured gas temperature or a measured gas injector pressure and determining at least one base gas injector command based on the adjusted gas flow target, a gas substitution rate estimate, and a gas substitution rate target. The method further includes determining, based on the at least one base gas injector command, a gas injector command for at least one engine bank.

摘要: A method of detecting a percentage of ethanol in fuel used by an engine is provided. The method includes obtaining the heater temperature at a first time t1 at which a slope of the heater temperature as a function of time reaches a predetermined threshold value indicative of fuel boiling; obtaining the heater temperature at a subsequent time t2 at which the slope of the heater temperature approaches a value of the slope prior to the time t1 and which is greater than the predetermined threshold value; and determining the percentage of ethanol in the fuel as a function of the first time t1 and a calculated temperature difference ΔT between the heater temperature at time t2 and the heater temperature at the first time t1. A fuel delivery system that detects a percentage of ethanol in fuel by the method, and a flexible fuel vehicle including the fuel delivery system, are also provided.

摘要: An estimation device is applicable to a combustion system including an internal combustion engine and includes a mixing acquisition unit, a main region estimation unit, and an after region estimation unit. The mixing acquisition unit acquires a mixing ratio of various components contained in the fuel used for combustion in the internal combustion engine. The main region estimation unit estimates a combustion region of the fuel as a main combustion region for a main combustion produced by injecting the fuel into a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine by main injection, based on the mixing ratio acquired by the mixing acquisition unit. The after region estimation unit estimates an injection region of the fuel as the after combustion region based on the mixing ratio, for an after combustion produced by injecting the fuel into the combustion chamber by an after injection, after the main injection in one combustion cycle.

摘要: A method for determining the composition of a fuel in a lubricant in an internal combustion engine in disclosed. The composition of a fuel having at least a first portion of a first fuel component and a second portion of a second fuel component is predefined. The mass flow with which the fuel is introduced into the lubricant in an introduction phase or discharged from the lubricant and from the housing in a discharge phase is determined. The composition of the mass flow is determined from a first mass flow of the first fuel component and a second mass flow of the second fuel component, which are determined based on a) an introduction parameter in the introduction phase or a discharge parameter in the discharge phase, and b) the first portion of the first fuel component and the second portion of the second fuel component in the fuel.

摘要: A system and method for determining the quality of natural gas is provided. The system includes a fuel line for communicating natural gas to an engine. An infrared light source is disposed along the fuel line and is configured to emit a beam of infrared light into the fuel line having a wavelength of 6 to 10 micrometers. An infrared light detector detects a transmission value of the natural gas as the beam of infrared light passes through the fuel line. A natural gas quality module receives the transmission value from the infrared light detector and determines a quality value of the natural gas based on an amount of infrared light absorbed by methane in the natural gas. An engine control module, including a feed-forward control loop, receives the quality value from the natural gas quality module and alters an operating parameter of the engine in response thereto.

摘要: An object is to enable an exhaust gas purification system to bring about satisfactory oxidation of fuel in an oxidation catalyst in a temperature raising process of a filter, thereby allowing fuel supply to be performed at as low a temperature as possible. In the exhaust gas purification system, when the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation catalyst exceeds a specific threshold temperature that is determined based on the cetane number of fuel, a controller performs the temperature raising process. If the quantity of heat generated in the oxidation catalyst per unit time is smaller than a specific value while the temperature raising process is being performed, the temperature raising process in progress is suspended. The temperature raising process is resumed later on when the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation catalyst exceeds an updated threshold temperature higher than the specific threshold temperature.

摘要: A method is provided for determining fuel blend in a dual fuel mixture including a first and a second fuel in an internal combustion engine. The method includes the steps of measuring multiple engine parameters using sensors during transient cycle operation for a predetermined range of engine loads and fuel blends; using system identification of transient time series of the measurements to determine one or more relevant engine parameters; determining a model for estimation of the fuel blend based on said one or more engine parameters; using the model for determining a current fuel blend during transient operation using current measured values of the one or more engine parameters, and using the calculated current fuel blend for controlling the amount of dual fuel mixture injected into each cylinder of the internal combustion engine. A vehicle and a computer program product using the method are also provided.

摘要: An engine control system includes an engine calibration module that sets fuel injection timing based on one of N cetane number (CN) values, wherein N is an integer greater than one. A combustion noise module generates a combustion noise signal based on cylinder pressure in a compression ignition (CI) engine during combustion. A fuel quality determination module compares the combustion noise signal to N predetermined combustion noise levels corresponding to the N CN values, and that selects the one of the N CN values based on the comparison.

摘要: Systems and methods for sensing fuel vapor pressure are provided. In one example, a method for a vehicle comprises: during an engine start after the engine has been off for at least a minimum duration, actively controlling fuel pressure in the fuel system to a vapor-liquid volume ratio greater than zero and then recording sensed fuel pressure and temperature in the fuel system. In this way, the vapor pressure of a fuel at a given temperature may be accurately measured during isothermal conditions, thereby improving an estimation of fuel volatility.
