摘要: The present invention provides an ignition system for a pulse fog generator having a carburetor, a pump for pumping air into the carburetor, and a priming pump for directing a quantity of fuel into the carburetor. The ignition system includes an igniter operable on low voltage, a switch for activating and deactivating the igniter, and a grounding connection for grounding the igniter to the carburetor. The grounding connection comprises a plurality of means for grounding the igniter including an igniter bracket and a ground wire assembly which couples to the igniter and to a location substantially near a sparkplug of the pulse fog generator.

摘要: A priming and purging fuel system for an internal combustion engine purges a diaphragm carburetor of the engine of stale liquid fuel and accumulated fuel vapor and air while simultaneously priming the carburetor and/or engine with liquid fuel for starting. A start pump of the fuel system supplies at least liquid fuel to a priming circuit and preferably at least fuel vapor and air to a purging circuit of the fuel system. The priming circuit delivers the priming fuel to the engine via a conduit that leads to an isolation chamber located between an inlet jet and preferably an outlet jet. The cross sectional flow area of the jets are appropriately sized to flow a needed amount of priming fuel to the carburetor and/or engine for starting without flooding the engine. The combination of the enlarged isolation chamber and jets, at least substantially prevents fuel dribble from the priming circuit and into the engine while running.

摘要: A primer assembly is provided including a resilient primer bulb which, along with the carburetor body, defines a variable volume priming chamber. A plunger or blocking element is slidably disposed within the priming chamber. Upon initial depression of the primer bulb, the primer bulb engages and depresses the plunger element toward the carburetor body to seal off an internal vent passage from the primer chamber and the fuel bowl. Thereafter, further depression of the primer bulb forces air from within the primer chamber into the fuel bowl to pressurize the fuel bowl and force an amount of fuel into the throat of the carburetor for priming. Advantageously, the plunger element functions to effectively seal the internal vent passageway from the primer chamber and fuel bowl regardless of the direction from which the primer bulb is depressed.

摘要: A diaphragm type carburetor which has a purge system to remove air and fuel vapor from the carburetor and to fill it with liquid fuel prior to starting an engine fed by the carburetor. The purge system has a primer valve actuated by moving a choke valve of the carburetor to its closed position to inject a small volume of liquid fuel into a throttle bore to provide a richer fuel and air mixture to the engine to facilitate starting it. Desirably, the small volume of liquid fuel is injected into the throttle bore in response to closing of the choke valve without requiring any additional steps such as depressing a button on the carburetor, to do so. Preferably, the choke valve is carried on a shaft which has at least one detent formed therein to provide a camming surface which actuates the primer valve as the choke valve is rotated from its open position to its closed position. Preferably, the choke valve shaft has a pair of detents. The primer valve is partially received by one detent when the choke valve is fully opened to close the primer valve and prevent any fluid flow therethrough. A second detent partially receives the primer valve to also close the primer valve after the choke valve has been moved to its fully closed position. The camming surface is disposed between the two detents relative to the movement of the choke valve to temporarily open the primer valve and inject the desired quantity of liquid fuel into the throttle bore to assist starting the engine when the choke valve is moved between its open and closed positions.

摘要: A variable venturi carburetor for a combustion engine has an uprighted cup-shaped piston head which forms an integral part of a venturi within a fuel-and-air mixing passage carried by a carburetor body, and a needle that projects rigidly downward from the head into a fuel feed passage. The position of the piston head controls air flow by adjusting the air flow cross-section of the variable venturi, and the needle simultaneously controls fuel flow into the fuel-and-air mixing passage at the venturi via obstruction of the fuel feed passage. The piston head and needle move in unison by a flexible diaphragm engaged to and disposed above the head. An atmospheric chamber is defined below the diaphragm and a vacuum chamber is defined generally above the diaphragm. A vacuum passage extends through the bottom of the head communicating between the fuel-and-air mixing passage at the venturi and the vacuum chamber. As vacuum at the venturi increases, the volume of the vacuum chamber decreases and the flexing diaphragm moves the head partially out of the fuel-and-air mixing passage until a balance of forces between the vacuum draw and the resilient compression of a spring disposed within the vacuum chamber and which biases the head into the passage is reached. During cold engine starts, cold idling, and cold acceleration, a cold engine priming device sensing the temperate of the engine and delivers additional fuel into the fuel-and-air mixing passage from a fuel chamber when the engine is below a pre-set value.

摘要: A remote priming device that is particularly adaptable to a working machine having a handle section and an internal combustion engine with a resilient primer bulb, may be designed as a kit and retrofitted onto the working machine. The remote priming device includes a housing attachable adjacent the primer bulb, and a linearly movable member constrained to move within the housing such that the primer bulb is depressed in response to movement of the movable member. The resilient primer bulb has a vent hole and the movable member includes a bulb depressing surface. The remote priming device also includes an actuation device with a first end positioned adjacent the handle section and a second end positioned adjacent the housing. When a manually actuable member of the actuation device is actuated, the bulb depressing surface of the movable member covers the vent hole and the movable member moves linearly within the housing to depress the primer bulb. At least one spring interconnected between the housing and the actuation device enables the movable member to return to an unactuated state when the actuation device is disengaged. The actuation device can also be interconnected with a throttle arm for the engine throttle such that the actuation device can be actuated to effect motion of either the throttle arm or the movable member, or both.
