    摘要: A one-piece cylinder block for a water-cooled internal combustion engine with two rows of cylinders in a V-arrangement has a longitudinal duct for supplying cooling water. The block is preferably made by a diecasting process. The longitudinal duct is connected to the coolant spaces of the cylinders which are located between a cylinder sleeve and an outer jacket surrounding the latter. The longitudinal duct is disposed between the rows of cylinders in the cylinder block and at least one opening is provided in the region of the coolant spaces for each cylinder. These openings are cast in the casing walls of the cylinder block. Since they are disposed directly adjacent the longitudinal duct, they extend essentially radially to the cylinders.

    摘要: A water pump for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine is driven by a shaft located between the camshaft and crankshaft. The intermediate shaft which is driven by and coupled to the crankshaft at one wall of the crank housing. The water pump is located in a remote wall of the crank housing, which itself forms one half of the pump containment. A dish-shaped housing half screws into the remote wall to contain the pump. The intermediate shaft is connected to the pump wheel of the water pump by a hollow shaft which passes longitudinally through the crank housing. Together with the bearings, securing elements, sealing rings and a bearing flange, the shaft forms a structural unit which may be pre-assembled and easily inserted into the engine.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for operating a piston driven internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas turbocharger, provides for the exhaust gases of the cylinders to be conducted to an afterburner chamber and subsequently to the exhaust gas turbine of the turbocharger when the motor vehicle is coasting, i.e., when the motor vehicle and engine are being driven by the vehicle's inertia, with the ignition for the cylinders being turned off and the charging air being introduced into the afterburner chamber. The noncombusted fuel/air mixture from the cylinders is combusted in the afterburner chamber with the additional charging air to thereby bring the turbocharger to its full output for reacceleration of the engine.

The at least one operating parameter for controlling the second bypass includes engine rpm and/or charge pressure and opening of the second bypass may be regulated by a solenoid valve controlled by a safety switch responsive to charging air pressure or an rpm transducer such as an ignition pulse transducer.
