Abstract:
The invention provides a display interface in a social networking system that enables the presentation of information related to a user in a timeline or map view. The system accesses information about a user of a social networking system, including both data about the user and social network activities related to the user. The system then selects one or more of these pieces of data and/or activities from a certain time period and gathers them into timeline units based on their relatedness and their relevance to users. These timeline units are ranked by relevance to the user, and are used to generate a timeline or map view for the user containing visual representations of the timeline units organized by location or time. The timeline or map view is then provided to other users of the social networking system that wish to view information about the user.
Abstract:
An intelligent rechargeable battery pack having a battery management system for monitoring and controlling the charging and discharging of the battery pack is described. The battery management system includes a memory for storing data related to the operation of the battery, and the battery management system is also configured to communicate the data related to the operation of the battery to other processors for analysis.
Abstract:
A system in accordance with the present invention may include one or more processors, memory from which the processor may fetch instructions according to a clock operating at a frequency, a display device, and one or more programs stored in the memory, with instructions to create a structured file for storing data related to the media presentation, access the data related to the media presentation from the presentation application, organize the data related to the media presentation according to an event, and export the organized data related to the media presentation to the structured file. These instructions may also be executed as steps of a method and may be fetched during the execution of one or more programs stored in a computer-readable storage medium.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for enhancing reverse driving torque in a hybrid electric vehicle powertrain in which an electric motor is used for providing forward driving torque as well as reverse driving torque. An electric generator, functioning as a motor, supplies an added reverse driving torque using a gearset in which the engine provides a reverse driving reaction torque for the gearset.
Abstract:
An irrigation system includes a central pivot connected to a source of fluid; at least one mobile intermediate tower; a mobile end tower; a plurality of support sections spanning the main tower, the intermediate tower, and the end tower; a fluid distribution conduit supported by the support sections and coupled to the source of fluid; and a plurality of water-emitting devices supported along the length of the fluid distribution conduit for delivering fluids from the conduit to crops beneath the irrigation system. A main controller is positioned at the main tower for controlling speed, direction, and fluid application functions of the irrigation system. An independent GPS controller is positioned at the end tower and includes a GPS receiver and a computing device. The GPS receiver receives satellite signals from a plurality of GPS satellites and determines a current location of the end tower as a function of the received satellite signals. The computing device is coupled with the GPS receiver for controlling operation of selected ones of the water emitting devices based on the current location of the end tower and independent from the main controller.
Abstract:
A barrier movement operator controls the movement of a moveable barrier. The barrier movement operator includes a movable utility light. A head unit is communication with the movable utility light to command the moveable barrier to perform moveable barrier functions. The head unit provides power to the movable utility light in response to performance of the moveable barrier functions and also in response to movement of the movable utility light from a first position disposed at the head unit.
Abstract:
This invention provides oligonucleotide based arrays and methods for speciating and phenotyping organisms, for example, using oligonucleotide sequences based on the Mycobacterium tuberculosis rpoB gene. The groups or species to which an organism belongs may be determined by comparing hybridization patterns of target nucleic acid from the organism to hybridization patterns in a database.
Abstract:
The present invention applies classical survival analysis to genome-wide gene expression profiles of prostate cancers and preoperative prostate-specific antigen levels from prostate cancer patient, to identify prognostic markers of disease relapse that provide additional predictive value relative to prostate-specific antigen concentration. The present invention provides a method of determining prognosis of prostate cancer and predicting prostate cancer outcome of a patient. The method comprises the steps of first establishing the threshold value of at least one prognostic gene of prostate cancer. Then, the amount of the prognostic gene from a prostate tissue of a prostate cancer patient is determined. The amount of the prognostic gene present in that patient is compared with the established threshold value of the prognostic gene, whereby the prognostic outcome of the patient is determined.
Abstract:
Described herein are genes whose expression are up-regulated or down-regulated in prostate cancer. Also described are such genes whose expression is further up-regulated or down-regulated in drug-resistant prostate cancer cells. Related methods and compositions that can be used for diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer are disclosed. Also described herein are methods that can be used to identify modulators of prostate cancer.
