摘要: The present disclosure is related to methods and systems for predicting a category of mammographic breast density (MBD) for a subject using a microbial profile obtained from biological sample of the subject. The state-of-art diagnostic/screening strategies for breast cancer are limited by one or more of factors like technical shortcomings, radiation exposure, and physical discomfort. In the present disclosure, a biological sample is collected from a subject. Then a quantitative abundance of each of a plurality of predetermined microbes associated with the biological sample is determined using a set of probes through a multiplex quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) technique. Further the quantitative abundance is collated to obtain a microbial abundance matrix. Next a model score is determined based on the microbial abundance matrix, using a pre-determined machine learning (ML) model. Lastly the risk category of breast cancer of the subject is assessed based on the model score.

摘要: Disclosed herein are methods for detecting a pathogenic microorganism in a sample. The methods can include the steps of contacting the sample with a lysis solution to form a mixture; filtering the mixture through a filter to form a filtered mixture, wherein the filtered mixture comprises DNA or RNA of the target microorganism; contacting the filtered mixture with loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) reagents and one or more primer sets specific to the DNA or RNA of the target microorganism, amplifying the DNA or RNA of the target microorganism, thereby producing one or more amplicons; and detecting the presence or absence of the one or more amplicons, wherein the presence of the one or more of the amplicons indicates the presence of the pathogenic microorganism. The LAMP reagents and the one or more primer sets can be lyophilized.

In the present disclosure, the primer combination includes a forward outer primer F3, a backward outer primer B3, a forward inner primer FIP, a backward inner primer BIP, a loop primer LF, and a probe PB1. The present disclosure further provides a kit and a method for detecting Clostridium piliforme based on the primer combination. The kit and the method can detect the Clostridium piliforme with a simple detection process, a low time consumption, easy determination of results, and high detection accuracy and sensitivity.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods for predicting the risk of developing pulmonary colonization/infection by P. aeruginosa. The inventors analyzed the respiratory tract microbiota from 65 patients sputum samples and compared microbiota data. The inventors found that patients that will remain uninfected from P. aeruginosa exhibited 3-fold higher abundance of Porphyromonas compared to the other groups. In particular, the present invention relates to a method for predicting the risk of developing pulmonary colonization/infection by P. aeruginosa in a subject suffering from cystic fibrosis (CF) comprising measuring the abundance of Porphyromonas genus bacteria in a biological sample obtained from said subject.

In various embodiments, a therapy to inhibit the growth of methanogens or to promote the growth of methanogens are selected and/or administered to a subject in need thereof.
