Abstract: A digital work may be annotated using an eBook reader device. Upon receiving an annotation relating to a specific portion of the digital work, an invariant location reference identifier corresponding to the specified portion of the digital work may be appended to the annotation. The annotation may then be stored in association with the digital work for later reference. In some instances, an annotation may be presented on an eBook reader device upon receipt of a valid authorization credential granting access to the annotation.

Abstract: A user interface for a content presentation system is disclosed for displaying and manipulating graphical multimedia content for an audience while hiding operator-specific elements from the audience. The operator-specific elements are permitted to overlap the audience-viewable elements on the operator's display, allowing for optimal use of screen real estate particularly on smaller touch-based devices. The use of a multithreaded programming architecture is preferably employed to take advantage of multi-cored CPUs and GPUs, allowing the operator and audience displays to be governed by separate CPU cores or threads and therefore perform graphical manipulations with high efficiency.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for suggesting media content contributions for a collaborative playlist are presented. The system can include a playlist component, a social component, and a suggestion component. The playlist component generates a playlist of media content in response to a request from a playlist owner. The social component invites at least one invitee to join a playlist collaboration group comprising the playlist owner and the at least one invitee. The suggestion component displays uploaded media content of the at least one invitee to allow the at least one invitee to add the uploaded media content to the playlist of the media content. The uploaded media content is determined based on a comparison of metadata of the uploaded media content with other metadata of the media content associated with the playlist.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software applications for managing slide presentation content are described in the present disclosure. According to one embodiment, among many, a computer readable medium is configured to store instructions that are executable by a processing device. The computer readable medium comprises logic adapted to enable a user to enter one or more search terms via a graphical user interface, the one or more search terms being used to initiate a text search of individual slides disassembled from one or more slide presentations and stored in an external database. Additional logic is adapted to display results of the text search on the graphical user interface, which displays a visual representation of a plurality of the individual slides resulting from the text search. The computer readable medium also includes logic adapted to enable a user to select one or more of the individual slides displayed on the graphical user interface.

Abstract: Technologies for generating a media compilation include comparing video metadata associated with a video to audio metadata associated with a plurality of digital songs to determine one or more matches between the compared metadata. The metadata defines various characteristics of the corresponding video and digital songs, and each match is indicative of a similar characteristic of the video and a corresponding digital song. One or more sync points are generated based on the determined matches and one or more songs are selected based on the sync points. The sync points may be prioritized based on the characteristics associated with the sync point and/or the degree of similarity. The video and the selected digital song(s) are subsequently compiled based on the associated sync points.
