Abstract: A medicament delivery device includes a housing, a medicament container disposed within the housing, an activation mechanism, a cover and an electronic circuit system. The activation mechanism includes an energy storage member configured to produce a force to deliver the dose of a medicament and/or vaccine. The cover is configured to receive at least a portion of the housing. The electronic circuit system is coupled to the housing such that a protrusion of the cover electrically isolates a battery from a portion of the electronic circuit system when the portion of the housing is received by the cover. The electronic circuit system is configured to be electrically coupled to the battery and to produce a recorded speech output when the portion of the housing is at least partially removed from the cover. The electronic circuit system configured to produce a signal when the activation mechanism is actuated.

Abstract: Methods of generating droplets. In an exemplary method, a device including a sample well, a carrier well, a droplet well, and a plurality of microfluidic channels is selected. The microfluidic channels include a first channel, a second channel, and a third channel. A discrete volume of sample-containing fluid is placed into the sample well, and a discrete volume of carrier fluid is placed into the carrier well. A pressure differential is created after placing the discrete volumes, to cause fluid flow. Sample-containing fluid flows from the sample well to a droplet-generation region of the device via the first channel. Carrier fluid flows from the carrier well to the droplet-generation region via the second channel. Sample-containing droplets and carrier fluid flow from the droplet-generation region to the droplet well via the third channel.

Abstract: Pairing is provided between first and second wireless devices in a physiological condition management system. The first and second wireless devices are placed in proximity to initiate generation of a secret key via a random process at one of the devices and to exchange the secret key with the other device using a wireless near field communication (NFC) link. The shared secret key is then used to encrypt data for communication between the first and second wireless devices via a different secure radio frequency (RF) wireless channel.

Abstract: A method of monitoring a subject includes detecting subject head motion information via a microelectromechanical systems sensor associated with an earpiece worn by the subject, processing, via a processor associated with the earpiece, the head motion information to determine subject head displacement relative to an origin and to determine if the subject has fallen down and/or is not moving, and transmitting the processed head motion information to a remote device. The method further includes communicating corrective action to the subject from the remote device and/or communicating corrective action for the subject from the remote device to a third party. The earpiece may include an audio headset, a hearing aid, or an earpiece fitting.
