摘要: A wire/fiber ring having two layers applied in four clock positions. Each layer includes a first material strand having a first diameter and a second material strand having a second diameter different from the first diameter. A second or any subsequent layer is disposed such that there is unambiguous nesting between strands in adjacent layers. After the array is built-up, wire is over-wrapped around the array to hold it in place during subsequent consolidation steps, which take place after the built-up array is sealed in an air-tight container and evacuated. After heating and application of pressure a wire/fiber array having a void content of about 12% and a fiber content of between about 0% to 70% and preferably between about 30% and 45% can be achieved.

摘要: The invention includes a method of three dimensional printing comprising manufacturing microbeads by an emulsion solvent extraction/evaporation process, followed by three dimensional printing onto powder layers comprising the microbeads. The invention also includes polymeric microbeads containing a bioactive substance or Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient, particularly a substance which stimulates the formation of bone, such as members of the statin family, or growth factors. The microbeads further may contain within themselves smaller particles such as particles of members of the calcium phosphate family, thereby being osteoconductive. The invention also includes aggregates of any of such microbeads together with any of various other types of suitably-sized particles, such as discrete particles of osteoconductive material or porogens. The invention also includes porous biostructures including macrochannels and having advantageous packing of osteoconductive particles.

摘要: A gas-cooled turbine generator includes a rotor having baffles arranged in rings and defining a plurality of gas cooling zones. A stator core has stator slots in a bore in which the rotor is received. A plurality of air gap baffle assemblies are arranged in segmented baffle rings in the stator slots and cooperate with the zone rings on the rotor. Each of the air gap baffle assemblies includes at least one baffle segment and an individual locking cam cooperating with a respective wedge of the baffle segment to lock the baffle segment relative to a stator slot at which the baffle segment is positioned such that prior baffle “trains” are no longer required.

摘要: A tuneable sensor reed for fiber optic vibration sensors. A sensor reed is mounted inside of a sensor case with an adjustable mounting structure such as a screw, bolt, clamp or cam lock. Adjusting the mounting structure changes the stresses on the sensor reed, and therefore adjusts the base frequency without the need to replace the whole sensor case. In a particular embodiment, the sensor reed is held in place by screws that completely penetrate the sensor case, and adjustments are made at the terminal end of the screw, which is on the outside of the sensor case, using for example, lock nuts. This adjustment allows for a sensor reed to be reset to its base frequency to compensate for such things as frequency drift, or to be set to a new frequency as desired.

摘要: A composition having an electrical conductivity sufficient to enable droplets to be easily charged when printing through a continuous jet with deflection printhead. The composition may include a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent, a co-solvent that is miscible with the halogenated hydrocarbon solvent, and a conductivity enhancing substance. The halogenated hydrocarbon solvent may be chloroform, and the co-solvent may be an alcohol, such as methanol or ethanol. The conductivity enhancing substance may be a salt that dissociates upon dissolution to form ions, or may be an acid or a polymer. The conductivity enhancing substance may be chosen to be benign if left in a printed product. The conductivity enhancing substance may be chosen to be volatile so as to be able to evaporate from whatever it is printed upon, and specifically may be chosen to be a liquid at room temperature. The conductivity enhancing substance may be chosen so as to comprise only carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, and in particular may be an ammonium salt; elements commonly found in bodily tissue. Alternatively, the conductivity enhancing substance may be chosen so as to contain ions of metals but only of certain specific metals.
