摘要： A base attachment module (BAM) of a small aerial vehicle (SAV) for attaching the SAV to an unprepared work surface has a surface meeting docking assembly (DA) with contact points for contacting the work surface, and a contracting suction cup (CSC) in a position surrounded by the contact points such that it extends beyond a plane (or other surface contour) of the points in a fully extended operating position, and is retracted below the plane in a retracted position. Actuation of the CSC when in contact with the surface, allows for the DA to be brought into contact with the contact points in a controlled manner, for a high stiffness attachment, as is needed for deployment of robotic tasks from a SAV.

摘要： An electrochemical device is disclosed and may include an electrolyte composition disposed between the anode and the cathode and a water vapor barrier which may include a biodegradable material, where the water vapor barrier is disposed to prevent water vapor escaping from the electrochemical device. The water vapor barrier further may include poly lactic acid or a metalized coating. The water vapor barrier further may further include multiple layers and have a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) less than or equal to 2 wt % over 24 hours. Embodiments of the water vapor barrier may also include a polymeric biodegradable material or a metalized coating disposed onto the biodegradable material. The water vapor barrier may also include multiple layers and may have a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) less than or equal to 1 mg per cm2 over 24 hours.

摘要： A composite includes a plastic substrate and an electrical insulator layer formed on the plastic substrate. The electrical insulator layer contains boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs), which may be unmodified or modified BNNTS. The composite is suitable for use in making printed electronic devices. A process includes providing a plastic substrate and forming on at least a portion of a surface of the plastic substrate a layer that contains the BNNTs. A metallic ink trace is formed on a portion of the layer, such that the metallic ink trace is spaced-apart from the substrate. Using photonic or thermal sintering techniques, the metallic ink trace is then sintered.

摘要： Linear friction welding is used to join dissimilar materials, namely a first workpiece formed of a high wear resistant material and a second workpiece formed of a base material. A compressive force is applied and a friction force is generated between the first and second workpieces. A solid-state joint is formed between the first and second workpieces. The high wear resistant material can be a tool steel, and the base material can be a low alloy steel or a carbon steel. The composite assemblies can be used for mining wear applications.

摘要： A molecular ink contains a silver carboxylate, an organic amine compound, an organic polymer binder, a surface tension modifier, and a solvent. The ink may be used to produce conductive silver traces on a substrate for use in fabricating electronic devices. The ink is particularly useful for producing conductive silver traces on a shapeable (e.g. stretchable) substrate in a low temperature sintering process. Also, a process for producing a conductive silver trace on a shaped substrate involves depositing the molecular ink on a shapeable substrate, drying the ink on the shapeable substrate to form a non-conductive trace containing the silver carboxylate on the shapeable substrate, forming the shapeable substrate into a shape to produce a shaped substrate so that at least a portion of the non-conductive trace is situated on a shaped portion of the shaped substrate, and sintering the shaped substrate to decompose the silver carboxylate to metallic silver thereby producing a conductive silver trace on at least the shaped portion of the shaped substrate. The process reduces potential for cracking of conductive silver traces on shaped substrates.
