Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provide a coated film capable of exhibiting an excellent adhesion property to a prism resin used in optical applications such as a backlight unit for liquid crystal displays, etc., in particular, a prism resin adaptable for high-brightness prisms, i.e., a high-refractive index prism resin. The coating film of the present invention comprises a polyester film and a coating layer formed on at least one surface of the polyester film which is prepared from a coating solution comprising a (meth)acrylate (A) and at least one crosslinking agent (B) selected from the group consisting of an oxazoline compound, an isocyanate-based compound and a melamine compound.

Abstract: To provide a photoalignable material that can yield a photoalignable film having a high optical uniformity and no alignment defect, and is excellent in sensitivity to allow photoalignment even with exposure in a short period of time, and a liquid crystal alignment film having a high alignment stability of a liquid crystal compound from the photoalignable material. A photoalignable polymer composition containing a specific photoalignable polymer and a specific polymer that is reactive with the photoalignable polymer is manufactured, and the photoalignable film is manufactured by applying the polymer composition onto a base material or the like, drying the applied composition thereon, and irradiating the dried composition with light. Furthermore, the liquid crystal alignment film is manufactured by allowing alignment of molecules of the liquid crystal compound in the photoalignment film.

Abstract: There is provided a cured-film formation composition for providing an orientation material that has high photoreaction efficiency and excellent solvent resistance with adhesion durability, and that enables a polymerizable liquid crystal to be aligned even on a resin film in a highly sensitive manner. A cured-film formation composition including: (A) an acrylic polymer having a photo-aligning group; (B) a polymer having any one of a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, and an amino group on at least two terminals of a group bonded to a main chain; and (C) a cross-linking agent. An orientation material and a retardation material are obtained with the cured-film formation composition.

A color filter manufactured using the same is also provided.

Abstract: A leuco polymer includes a leuco monomer and an alkene. The leuco polymer has a molecular weight of at least 500 and is obtainable by polymerization of the leuco monomer and one or more alkene co-monomers. The leuco monomer consists of an alkene covalently bound to a leuco moiety and the leuco monomer has a molar extinction coefficient at a wavelength in the range 400 to 750nm of less than 1000 M−1cm−1. The alkene monomer(s) have a molar extinction coefficient at a wavelength in the range 400 to 750nm that is less than 100 M−1cm−1. Methods of making the leuco polymer, laundry care compositions comprising the leuco polymer and methods of treating textiles with such laundry care compositions.

Abstract: Orthopedic and dental implants coated with an antibacterial coating and methods of making and using, are described herein. The implant can be coated with a hydrophobic, polycationic antibacterial polymer. The polymer can be covalently or non-covalently associated with the surface; however, in particular embodiments, the polymer is non-covalently associated with the surface. As shown in the examples below, clinical observations, digital radiography, and a battery of well-accepted ex vivo analytical methods show that the presence of a hydrophobic polycationic polymer coating, such as N,N-dodecyl,methyl-PEI coating on the surface of a metal implant, was effective in eliminating the clinical signs of infection in vivo in a large animal infection model. Moreover, the coated plates supported bone healing, and in fact decreased healing times, even in the presence of significant bacterial contamination compared to a control.

Abstract: The present invention relates to polymeric composites comprising inorganic fillers and organic, or organometallic, polymers. The filler compositions are used in the preparation of inorganic-organic polymeric composites, and, in particular, light curable composites. The composite fillers are used in dental applications, such as tooth restorations, for example, cavity fillings, adhesive compositions, veneers, crowns, bridges and teeth replacements. The inventive composition is a composite filler comprising porous inorganic particles having a diameter of 2-25 microns and a polymer occupying the pores of the porous inorganic particles, wherein the composite filler has a diameter of 2-25 microns.
