Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for training probabilistic object motion prediction models using non-differentiable representations of prior knowledge. As one example, object motion prediction models can be used by autonomous vehicles to probabilistically predict the future location(s) of observed objects (e.g., other vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians, etc.). For example, such models can output a probability distribution that provides a distribution of probabilities for the future location(s) of each object at one or more future times. Aspects of the present disclosure enable these models to be trained using non-differentiable prior knowledge about motion of objects within the autonomous vehicle's environment such as, for example, prior knowledge about lane or road geometry or topology and/or traffic information such as current traffic control states (e.g., traffic light status).

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to an autonomous vehicle that may detect other nearby vehicles and designate stationary vehicles as being in one of a short-term stationary state or a long-term stationary state. This determination may be made based on various indicia, including visible indicia displayed by the detected vehicle and traffic control factors relating to the detected vehicle. For example, the autonomous vehicle may identify a detected vehicle as being in a long-term stationary state based on detection of hazard lights being displayed by the detected vehicle, as well as the absence of brake lights being displayed by the detected vehicle. The autonomous vehicle may then base its control strategy on the stationary state of the detected vehicle.

Abstract: A system and method for taillight signal recognition using a convolutional neural network is disclosed. An example embodiment includes: receiving a plurality of image frames from one or more image-generating devices of an autonomous vehicle; using a single-frame taillight illumination status annotation dataset and a single-frame taillight mask dataset to recognize a taillight illumination status of a proximate vehicle identified in an image frame of the plurality of image frames, the single-frame taillight illumination status annotation dataset including one or more taillight illumination status conditions of a right or left vehicle taillight signal, the single-frame taillight mask dataset including annotations to isolate a taillight region of a vehicle; and using a multi-frame taillight illumination status dataset to recognize a taillight illumination status of the proximate vehicle in multiple image frames of the plurality of image frames, the multiple image frames being in temporal succession.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, at least one processor may be programmed to receive, from a camera, a captured image representative of features in an environment of the vehicle. The processor may generate a warped image based on the received captured image, which may simulate a view of the features in the environment of the vehicle from a simulated viewpoint elevated relative to an actual position of the camera. The processor may further identify a road feature represented in the warped image, which may be transformed in one or more respects relative to a representation of the road feature in the captured image. The processor may then determine a navigational action for the vehicle based on the identified feature represented in the warped image and cause at least one actuator system of the vehicle to implement the determined navigational action.

Abstract: An autonomous delivery system for a vehicle is described and includes a plurality of cubbies for retaining items for delivery to users, wherein each of the cubbies comprises a door for selectively enabling access to contents of the cubby, wherein each of the doors comprises a selectively transparent display and wherein upon arrival at a delivery destination, the selectively transparent displays communicate to a recipient associated with the delivery destination in which one of the cubbies a delivery associated with the recipient is retained; and an authentication system for authenticating the recipient and, subsequent to successful authentication of the recipient, permitting access to contents of the one of the cubbies in which the delivery associated with the recipient is retained.
