    摘要: Energy and water are recovered from flue gases by cooling them to a temperature sufficiently below the acid dew point temperature by contact with an aqueous stream so as to recover the sensible heat and to reduce the water content of the flue gases by about 50%. The water by which the aqueous stream is enriched is subsequently flashed off to cool the stream back to its original temperature and the water vapor is then compressed to generate a higher temperature vapor stream which is condensed to recover the water and extract heat. The aqueous stream is continuously enriched with material such as calcium carbonate to control the pH sufficiently as to avoid substantial corrosion due to acidic gases removed from the flue gases and the aqueous stream is purged continuously or periodically to remove compounds such as chlorides, calcium sulphates, and fly ash solids picked up from the flue gases. The system may be operated in two stage fashion in which separate aqueous streams are employed to cool the flue gases in two serial stages.

    摘要: This invention relates to the conservation of energy in a domestic gas water heater by utilizing the hot exhaust gases in a gas water heater for the preheating of the incoming unheated water into the water heater.The exhaust gases from a domestic gas water heater carry wasted heat and the present invention provides a mean to reclaim part of the wasted heat for the preheating of the incoming unheated water during hot water usage periods. During non hot water usage periods the heat in the exhaust gases is not reclaimed to prevent overheating of the water and also to prevent the formation of water deposit in the preheating assembly or heat reclaimer. During the non hot water usage periods the heat produced in the water heater is normally needed only to maintain the desired water temperature of the stored water in the water tank of the water heater.Due to the rapid heating or recovery rate, the present invention enables the use of a smaller water heater. The use of a smaller water heater reduces the normal heat loss from the stored hot water thereby further reduces energy consumption.

    摘要: Improved furnaces are described in which secondary and tertiary heat exchanges are incorporated into new and existing hot-air furnace systems for controlled cooling of hot combustion products by co-current and countercurrent heat exchanges. Hot combustion products are cooled to a temperature at which latent heat of water vapor contained in combustion gases are substantially recovered.In one embodiment of our invention, a secondary heat exchanger comprises inter alia a closed hollow annular drum concentric with and spaced from a cylindrical combustion chamber, said annular drum having an upper annulus preferably filled with randomly packed refractory material.A second embodiment of our invention comprises a closed double-annuli drum heat exchanger concentric with and spaced from a cylindrical combustion chamber.Finned tube or thermosiphon heat exchangers can be arranged sequentially with the primary heat exchanger combustion chamber to function as a secondary heat exchanger or as a tertiary heat exchanger.

    摘要: A fluid heating apparatus may comprise a fluid pumping assembly configured to increase a pressure characteristic of the fluid between the fluid inlet and fluid outlet, and a heating assembly configured to heat the fluid between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. The heating assembly may define a first portion of a gas path such that exhaust gases from combustion in the heating assembly enter the gas path. The apparatus may also comprise a heat recovery assembly configured to recover heat from the exhaust gases and transfer recovered heat to fluid moving through the fluid path. The heat recovery assembly may define a second portion of the gas path in fluid communication with the first portion of the gas path. An exhaust gas movement device may be configured to pull exhaust gases through the first and second portions of the gas path to the gas movement device.
