    Abstract: A heat extractor captures and separates the heat and the carbon monoxide from waste energy that is expelled from the furnace as an unusable bi-product. The heat extractor includes a core assembly, a furnace flue pipe inlet, and a furnace flue pipe outlet. The heat extractor is secured within a return air duct of the furnace, while a furnace outlet is connected to the furnace flue pipe inlet and the furnace flue pipe outlet is connected to a chimney outlet. When the furnace is operating, the hot exhaust passes through the heat extractor on its way to the chimney outlet. Within the return air duct there is a heat exchange from the heat extractor to the return cool air, thereby preheating the cool air just before it enters the furnace causing less consumption of energy to heat that air while the carbon monoxide harmlessly passes through the chimney outlet.

    Abstract: A water heater includes a burner of a premixed type, a heat exchanger, and a fan suctioning combustion gas and exhausting combustion gas to the outside. The burner includes a burner case partitioned into a combustion chamber and a gas introduction chamber by a partition plate and a plurality of combustion tubes arranged in the combustion chamber. An air supply opening for supplying air into the gas introduction chamber is provided in the burner case. The partition plate has a plurality of opening portions communicating with the inside of the combustion tubes and a plurality of through holes communicating with the outside of the combustion tubes within the combustion chamber. The air supply opening is constructed to have an opening area smaller than the total sum of the total of opening areas of the plurality of opening portions and the total of opening areas of the plurality of through holes.

    Abstract: A forced air supply combustion apparatus sucks combustion air from an air supply port. An air filter for collecting foreign matters in the air is mounted on an air-supply-port-formed plate in an insertable and drawable manner. A filter frame is arranged to be brought into close contact with a peripheral part of the air supply port in a state of having mounted the air filter in position. The air-supply-port side edge parts are provided with retaining pieces to clamp a filter side frame part in the Z-axis direction against the side edge parts. A distance in the Z-axis direction between the air-supply-port side edge parts, and the retaining pieces is set larger than a dimension, in the Z-axis direction, of the filter side frame part, and is set smaller than a sum of the dimensions to be obtained by adding to said dimensions the projection height of the projections provided in a projecting manner.

    Abstract: A heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a furnace having a primary heat exchanger and a secondary heat exchanger, where the primary heat exchanger and the secondary heat exchanger form a heat exchange relationship between an airflow and an exhaust gas, and where the primary heat exchanger is positioned upstream of the secondary heat exchanger, a burner configured to generate the exhaust gas, a sensor configured to monitor an ambient temperature, and a control system configured to receive feedback from the sensor, compare the feedback to a threshold, operate the furnace in a first mode when the ambient temperature exceeds the threshold, and operate the furnace in a second mode when the ambient temperature is at or below the threshold, where the furnace operates above a condensation temperature when in the second mode, such that the exhaust gas does not condense when operating in the second mode.
