摘要: A liquid heater such as a direct electrical resistance liquid heater having multiple flow channels is provided with a temperature-sensing element in the form of a wire extending across numerous channels, preferably all of the channels, near the downstream ends of the channels. The resistance of the wire represents the average temperature of the liquid passing through all of the channels, and hence the temperature of the mixed liquid exiting from the heater. A bubble suppressing structure is provided in the vicinity of the wire.

摘要: A system for the transmission and conversion of the potential energy of hydrocarbon fuels to available heat, power and light. The system is particularly adapted for use with natural gas, artificial gases or any of the LPG fuels such as propane, butane, etc. According to the system of the invention, the fuel gas is mixed with air preferably in the amount providing the stoichiometric ratio to oxygen and is stored under pressure and ultimately transmitted to burner elements which are hermetically sealed except for the inlet and discharge ports, such as tubes, power sources, such as captive and free piston devices and gas turbines and light sources. The system includes special forms of equipment for mixing and pressurizing the gas and air in the correct ratio and special forms of equipment for establishing and controlling the combustion processes.

摘要: A burner for use with an induced draft furnace and which satisfies reduced nitrous oxide (NOx) emission standards is disclosed. The burner may employ a mechanical swirler that introduces a rotational vector to the emitted air and fuel mixed by the burner. By introducing the rotational vector, the resulting flame is more stable and sustainable even with the relatively low air flow afforded by an induced system. Such flame stability can be enhanced by positioning the burner directly within an inlet to a heat exchanger and manufacturing the inlet with reception surfaces that form a frusto-conically shaped flame expansion zone. In doing so, a secondary source of air is avoided and NOx emissions are reduced.
