摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for burning fossil fuel, for instance oil, gas, coal, biogas formed from organic waste, or the like, which apparatus comprises combustion means for burning this fuel in addition to converting means for converting the energy becoming available in this combustion into a desired form of energy, for instance a burner which can transfer the combustion heat to a heat exchanger for heating of heating medium, air or mains water, which apparatus further comprises a supply conduit for combustion air and a discharge conduit for flue gases. In order to increase the efficiency of such an apparatus the apparatus according to the invention has the special feature that the supply conduit for outside air and the discharge conduit for flue gases are mutually communicating via a water vapour and heating exchanging system such that at least a part of the water vapour present in the flue gases is transferred to the incoming combustion air, with the vapour pressure difference between both substance flows as driving force for the water vapour exchange.

摘要: A method is presented for the transfer of heat from a low to a higher temperature, in that the main medium in gas form is heated and compressed, after which this main medium is conducted to a first heating chamber (1) where heat at low temperature is added to the main medium, whereafter the gas is conducted to a compressor (8) and compressed, in that before being conducted to the first heating chamber (1), the main medium can undergo a pressure drop and a possible heat absorption in a heat exchanger. In the first heating chamber (1), there is added an auxiliary medium in liquid form which evaporates together with the heating of the main medium, so that after the heating the main medium is more or less saturated with the auxiliary medium in vapor form, in that the heat is added from a second heating chamber (2) in which a gaseous medium containing evaporated auxiliary medium is cooled for the condensation of the auxiliary medium. A third heating chamber (14) can be used for the transfer of heat to the first heating chamber (1).

摘要: A forced hot air furnace having a continously wet condensing heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has an upwardly inclined first segment connected in series to a downwardly inclined second segment. Combustion products are first passed across a water reservoir thereby becoming sufficiently elevated in dew point to condense within the first segment resulting in all wet first segment operation. Condensate formed in the first segment will drain downward opposite the flow of combustion products, into the water reservoir. Since combustion products entering the second segment have been cooled to less than their dew point, the second segment will also operate in the all wet mode. Condensate flows down the second segment into a sump for transfer to the water reservoir.

摘要: An apparatus for heating water having three vertically aligned water heating process sections. The upper section includes an annular water storage tank disposed around a combustion chamber having a downward firing burner. The intermediate section, disposed vertically below the upper section receives flue gas from the combustion chamber, which flue gas is cooled and dehumidified, producing a hot condensate which collects in a passive condensate flow control device disposed proximate the bottom of the intermediate section. The lower section, disposed vertically below the intermediate and separated therefrom by the passive condensate flow control device receives hot condensate from the flow control device, which is used to preheat and humidify air, such as room air, which is then recycled to the combustion process of the upper section for use as combustion air. This passive condensate flow control device uses gravity to inject condensate, thereby facilitating a system design that only requires a single condensate pump.

摘要: A gas fired boiler for a domestic hot water and/or central heating system has a burner (25) (FIG. 1), a static heat exchanger (22) through which water is circulated, and a rotary heat exchanger (12) of which the body is a disc of ceramic material such as is currently used for catalytic conversion in automobile exhaust systems. The rotary heat exchanger recovers heat from the gases passing from the static heat exchanger (22) to the outlet flue 4, and uses this recovered heat for heating the fresh air entering through the air intake (3). A conduit (90) having a controllable valve (91) enables heated fresh air to be supplied for space heating purposes if required, while improving the thermal efficiency of the boiler by promoting condensation of water vapor from the combustion gases as they pass through the rotary heat exchanger.

摘要: A hot water heater or similar heating device includes equipment for pre-cooling hot flue gas while preheating water for the water heater. It further includes a heat and mass exchanger for transferring heat and water from the pre-cooled flue gas to combustion air for the hot water heater. The pre-cooler may comprise a separate device or may be incorporated as part of a condensing water heater. The heat and mass exchanger may use membranes having condensing sides and evaporating sides, which allow water to pass from the condensing sides to the evaporating sides. It may further comprise troughs for wetting the membranes.

摘要: A heat exchanger includes an enclosure having a separator disposed therein that divides the heat exchanger into a mixing area and a heat exchange area. The mixing area is configured to receive a hot fume and droplets of a liquid for mixing with each other to form a fume-droplet vapor mixture. The mixture is configured to flow through orifices of the separator into the heat exchange area. A plurality of magazines is disposed within the heat exchange area of the first enclosure. Each magazine defines a cavity. The cavities are disposed in communication with one another. A lower-most magazine is configured to receive a receiver medium that is pumped through the cavity of each successive magazine to an upper-most magazine. The mixture is configured to circulate about the magazines to incrementally heat the receiver medium as the receiver medium is pumped through the cavity of each successive magazine.

摘要: A method to prevent freezing of water in a conduit that carries the water out of a building. The method uses a device that alternately accumulates the water in a container and then dumps it. The water is then carried to the outside of the building through a conduit. The water, being released in batches, does not have time to freeze in the conduit.
