Abstract:
A cooking appliance has a combustion zone air flow path which includes a combustion zone. A first cooking zone is positioned in thermal communication with the combustion zone. During operation of the cooking appliance, combustion products produced in the combustion zone indirectly heat air whereby heated air is produced that is then introduced into the combustion zone and/or the first cooking zone.
Abstract:
A pellet barbecue configured to recirculate exhaust gas, allowing for the reduction of oxygen in the cooking chamber. The pellet barbecue is configured with an exhaust gas recirculation system, and an angled bottom fire pot. The electric gas recirculation fan pulls gases from a gas recirculation channel, and blows it onto the angled bottom fire pot. The gas recirculation channel is equipped with a movable mixer flap to control how much of the gas pulled by the gas recirculation fan is exhaust gas or outside air. The pellet barbecue controller monitors the conditions in the cooking chamber, and controls the gas recirculation fan speed and positioning of the mixer flap to maintain a desired temperature, while optimizing the concentration of wood taste compounds from the pellets in the cooking chamber.
Abstract:
An assembly for creating a fire display from a liquid fuel comprises a fuel receiving reservoir connected to a burner by a conduit, the conduit providing a flow channel for a liquid fuel from the reservoir to the burner. When a container of liquid fuel is placed in a bottle receiving tray the fuel is dispensed into the reservoir and in turn flows into the burner. Flammable vapors over the liquid fuel in the burner can then be ignited. The arrangement provides a continuous feed of fuel to the burner and allows safe replacement of the fuel container and replenishment of the fuel in the burner while the flame is present.
Abstract:
A solid fuel heating apparatus (1) comprising a combustion chamber provided with a glass door (4) opening to the outside, an intake device (11) for the intake of outside combustion air into said chamber, an outlet duct for the burnt gases (2) and a sealed preheating enclosure for preheating the combustion air, conveying said air to the combustion chamber, connected at a first end to the intake device (11) and ending at a second end with a plurality of openings (9) releasing the air preheated by the preheating enclosure into the combustion chamber, characterised in that the preheating enclosure consists of a set of sealed heat exchanging pipes containing the combustion gases and the burnt gases (3, 8, 12, 15, 17, 18, 19), ending with the abovementioned openings (9), which are variable in size and are arranged in such a way as to modulate the flow of preheated air released into the chamber, enclosing the flame and combustion area in the natural conical shape of said chamber.
Abstract:
A portable pellet fired heating element for mounting to a grill or stove and comprising a gravity fed pellet holder, a unitary tubular structure having a burner, an air intake and an exhaust chute. Fuel may be supplied to the pellet holder by various supply means such as a conveyer, ramp, scooped, held in bulk in a hopper, and like pellet supply structures and methods. Fuel is fed to the air-cooled insulated burner area onto a decomposer grate, which defines the primary combustion area and which is partially open to the atmosphere for air intake. An adjustable high-pressure flow of gas or vapor is introduced to the primary exhaust chute below the decomposer grate to create a low pressure flow above the grate and which upon ignition, cause flames to be pulled into the pellet mass on the grate. In operation, air from the primary air intake maintains hot charcoal in the primary combustion area, and the secondary combustion area provides a steady flow of wood gas that mixes with a predetermined or adjustable amount of air supplied by the secondary air intake to maintain the flame. The super heated gasses and any ash are provided to the grill or stove by means of the exhaust chute. For cleaning purposes, an electrical/mechanical device may be provided to move the decomposer grate or to provide a sudden burst of high gas pressure.
Abstract:
A stove has a combustion chamber with front and rear ends. Fuel is fed into the front end and a chimney exhausts the products of combustion from the rear end. A multiplicity of tubes are external to, and parallel to the combustion chamber. Each tube is connected between the front and rear ends of the combustion chamber so that some part of the products of combustion flows through the tube and thus improves its heat dissipation as compared to the heat dissipation of a simple fin. A baffle may be inserted between the front and rear ends of the combustion chamber to increase the flow of combustion products through the tubes.
Abstract:
A double walled fireplace insert is shown with an inner firebox and an outer shell to provide convection air channels between the parallel walls of the inner and outer units. A front panel is integral with the outer shell, and it covers the front of the insert. This front panel has room air intake vents that open into the said air channels, and warmed air outlet vents that open into the room to be heated by this fireplace. There is a circulating fan positioned within the convection air channels for governing the air movement through the said channels. Each of the rear walls of the insert has a pivoted heavy metal door to accommodate the rear loading of the interior firebox when there is a vertical masonry chimney built on the outside of the residence over the fireplace insert installed through the outer wall with a door opening in the lower portion thereof for gaining access to the two rear doors of the fireplace insert so that firewood may be loaded from the outside into the firebox through the open rear doors, and ashes and cinders may be collected and removed through these two rear door openings from the outside after the fire has subsided. A lock mechanism is provided for the outer rear door to prevent unauthorized entry by unknown persons.
Abstract:
A self-contained, free standing, on-demand, woodburning furnace including a firebox (52), including means to force combustion gases through a manifold (68), a hot air gathering plenum and means to selectively force feed the fire (34, 36, 38, 40, 68) and draw heated air from the furnace (8, 10, 12, 14).
Abstract:
A prefabricated fireplace structure is convertible to function as an open fireplace or an enclosed, solid fuel burning stove. An outer fireproof cabinet for installation in existing building framing or new construction, receives a selected compatible firebox in the form of a log-burning fireplace or a substantially enclosed wood/coal-burning stove. The selected firebox includes a damper and an exhaust outlet therein, which exhaust outlet is connected to a flue pipe in the outer cabinet. A unique connecting device secures the selected firebox in the cabinet and further includes a means for sealing the connection of the exhaust outlet to the flue pipe inlet.
Abstract:
A positive interconnect system (10) embodying the concepts of the present invention provides a sealed passageway between a fireplace insert (11) and a liner (12) in the flue (13) of a chimney (14). An oval connector (46) and a transitional connector (48) are each constructed with an overall depth dimension such that they may be individually inserted through the opening (29) in a damper frame (21) and into the smoke chamber (28) of the chimney (14). After the connectors (46, 48) are received within the smoke chamber (28) they may be joined together by an interlock (49) to form a composite connector assembly (45). The assembly (45) is then fastened to the uppermost end (95) of a flexible duct (40), and the assembly (45) is then moved upwardly through the smoke chamber (28) into sealing engagement with the flue liner (12). Post means (111, 112) support the assembly (45) in sealing engagement with the flue liner (12). The lowermost end (110) of the flexible duct (40) is operatively connected to an insert connector (35), and the insert connector is secured to the insert (11) by a selection of inside or outside fastener means (135 or 136). The insert connector (35) is provided with a boot (120) that is adjustably positionable with respect to the frame (121) of the insert connector (35).
