    摘要: An Electronically-Controlled Register vent (ECRV) that can be easily installed by a homeowner or general handyman is disclosed. The ECRV can be used to convert a non-zoned HVAC system into a zoned system. The ECRV can also be used in connection with a conventional zoned HVAC system to provide additional control and additional zones not provided by the conventional zoned HVAC system. In one embodiment, the ECRV is configured have a size and form-factor that conforms to a standard manually-controlled register vent. In one embodiment, a zone thermostat is configured to provide thermostat information to the ECRV. In one embodiment, the zone thermostat communicates with a central monitoring system that coordinates operation of the heating and cooling zones.

The method comprises integrating a control device into said system such that the control device is in communication with the terminal box, terminal box interface, and control components of said system. The control device collects a plurality of zone characteristics, airflow measurements, and occupancy variables, calculates for a primary air freshness based on the plurality of airflow measurements, an outside air requirement based on some of the plurality of zone characteristics and occupancy variables, and a minimum airflow set point by dividing the calculated outside air requirement by the primary air freshness. The control components of said system are modulated based on the calculated minimum airflow set point.

    摘要: An inline duct supplemental heating and cooling device provides heated and/or cooled air to a room in a building to supplement the heating provided by the existing furnace or the cooling provided by the existing cooling unit in the building. The device includes an electric heater and fan that are activated and deactivated individually by a controller, which receives room temperature data from a thermostat. The device may include one or more separate safety devices to prevent overheating of heater air or of the device itself. Optionally, a vibration-insulating sleeve may be used to couple the device to an existing ventilation duct of the building.
