Abstract: A heat pump is provided that is alternately operable in a heating mode for heating an interior space under cold or cool ambient conditions and in a cooling or dehumidification mode for cooling the interior space under warm or hot ambient conditions. The heat pump has a direct expansion (DX) coil that operates as a condenser coil for heating air passing over said DX coil when the heat pump is operated in the heating mode. The heat pump has a first outside air path that delivers outside air over the DX coil. The heat pump additionally has a second outside air airflow path that bypasses the DX coil. The heat pump optionally includes heat reclaim coil. When the heat pump has a heat reclaim coil, the second outside air airflow path is upstream of the heat reclaim coil for delivering outside air over the heat reclaim coil.

Abstract: A portable enclosure is configured to mix room air with a controlled amount of exterior air via one or more flexible conduits disposed between the enclosure and an exterior window. At least one flexible conduit is connected to a barrier structure which is designed for sealable placement within the window. One or more mixing dampers are employed to control the amount of exterior air supplied to the enclosure. An air moving device delivers exterior air in controlled amounts to the enclosure which is designed to be moveable so that a more desirable (fresher, cooler, and more contaminant free) stream of air is deliverable to the personal space of an occupant to satisfy ventilation and temperature requirements.

Each environmental control system has a control unit coupled to the system monitor through the firewall that prevents unauthorized devices from accessing the respective control unit and a HVAC system device coupled to the respective control unit through the firewall. For each unit, a local user device that is located inside the unit is coupled to the control unit through a local communication interface, and an external user device that is located outside the unit communicates with the control unit through the firewall.

Abstract: A method of minimizing compressor use in an HVAC system for an IT space includes configuring an HVAC system to cool an IT space, providing a control system to operate the HVAC system, the control system having software configured to calculate economization mode minimum achievable X-Factor for a predetermined period of time, providing at least one parameter to the control system, the at least one parameter including X-Factor history and period weather forecast(s), setting temperature set points for each forecast interval, and analyzing the temperature set points according to maximum and minimum temperature parameters for the IT space, with intervals with set points violating the maximum temperature parameter being designated as intervals for which the compressor will operate while intervals with set points violating the minimum temperature parameter are assigned the minimum temperature set point.
